Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential
election came as a complete surprise for many,
especially after the media predicted a near-certain
win for Hillary Clinton. The world is now closely watching Washington D.C.,
because no one can really predict how American politics will look under the
Trump administration.
The Israeli government in particular has high hopes for the Trump govern-
ment, especially after the judgment against Israeli settlements by the UN Secu-
rity Council. The United States, still under Obama, for practically the first time
ever, refused to exercise a veto that would have benefitted Israel. Donald
Trump has promised that everything will be different under him, but no one
really knows what that means. He stated, as have others before him, that the
US embassy will be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem—which is equivalent to
recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The ones who promised that in the
past didn’t end up carrying through on it, for fear of problems with the Arab
states and the Palestinians.
He talked about solving the Palestinian problem in terms of a “deal” that he
plans to close, but so far, no one knows exactly what that deal might encom-
pass.
Naftali Bennett, a leading minister in the Israeli government, stated that he
is open to annexation of the Israeli settlements in the Palestinian areas. Israel
isn’t going to attempt that though, without the approval of the United States.

Thus, the proponents of annexation are watching the new American president, in
hopes that under him, “everything will be different” on this issue.
While Israel sets great hopes on the new administration in Washington, many in
the Arab world are waiting anxiously to see what changes the new American gov-
ernment will bring for them. The reported special relationship that Donald Trump
has with Vladimir Putin and Russia will surely mean that changes are coming in
the US’s relationship to the Arab and Islamic world, especially in regard to Syria,
Iraq and ISIS. A decisive change in in the handling of the refugee problem is also
expected from Donald Trump.
Britain’s exit from the European Union is bringing a similar change to interna-
tional politics. The new American president strongly favored that exit, while his
own campaign slogan was, “Make America Great Again.”
It’s not clear what that slogan might mean for the rest of the world, but it likely
means that the main focus of the American government will be on fixing problems
in its own country, and not those of the rest of the world.
As far as helping the rest of the world goes, especially when it comes to helping
Israel, Trump has stated that more assistance can be expected, but that assistance
will come with a price. That means that the USA doesn’t want to pass out gifts any-
more; some sort of service will be expected in return. That statement raised some
concerns in Israel that, in spite of the almost euphoric hopes, maybe things won’t
be quite so rosy for Israel after all under Trump’s government.
The “Brexit” experience and the election of Donald Trump have shown once
again that things don’t always turn out in the way that the media and the “opin-
ion-makers” try to convince people, but there is instead a higher power that is con-
trolling the fate of the world and mankind, so that His will is done. An old German
aphorism says that “Man thinks, but God steers.”

ten appears worldly and profane,

It is necessary to take care whereBiblical prophecy is concernedto avoid widespread errors.
Thus, we must differentiatebetween the beast out of the sea(Revelation 13:1-10) and the beastout of the earth (Revelation 13:11-18). The first beast is a Gentiledictator of the revived (European)Roman Empire of the end times;the second beast is the future falsemessiah in Israel. The assumptionis wrong that the coming dictatorfrom Europe is the Antichrist. TheAntichrist is the second beast, thefalse messiah of Israel, who is inplace of Christ (i.e. Messiah) (1John 2:18). Antichrist means falsemessiah. The false messiah willrule as a Jew in Israel (Daniel11:36-39; Isaiah 30:33; Zechariah11:15-17; John 5:43; 2 Thessalo-nians 2:3-12; 1 John 2:18; Reve-lation 6:1-2; 13:11-18; 16:13;
19:19-20). The coming “newRoman” dictator is no false mes-siah.He is not the king of the northin Daniel 11 either. The king ofthe north is in the prophecy ofGreater Syria (from Syria/Lebanonto Pakistan; Daniel 11:1-35). Thebeast out of the sea in Revelation13, which has ten horns, corre-sponds with the fourth beast inDaniel 7. This beast symbolizesthe Roman Empire.The Antichrist, the second beast,is not the king of the north. TheAntichrist, i.e. the false Messiah,is simply called “the king” (Daniel11:36-39). He is clearly differentfrom the king of the north (GreaterSyria) and the king of the south(Egypt) (Daniel 11:40). Thus, it isclear that the Antichrist cannot befrom Islam, i.e. from the Mahdiawaited by the Shiite Muslims.

When we read the prophetic statements of the Holy Scriptures in theirentirety, we have a very clear picture according to Bible scholar andprophetic expert Dr. Roger Liebi. He gives here a view of understandingthe end times.
Yes, the Antichrist is a Jew whowill not heed the God of his fathers,namely the God of Abraham, Isaacand Jacob (Daniel 11:37). He willinitiate the worship of an image(Revelation 13:14-15; Daniel 9:27;Matthew 24:15). This does notcorrespond with Islam at all; itapplies to the idolization of thetwo beasts (Revelation 13:4; 2Thessalonians 2:4).The beast out of the sea, whowill be the Roman dictator, willexercise his tremendous influentialpower worldwide (Revelation13:7), but the newly arisen RomanEmpire will not embrace the wholeworld. The Bible speaks of variouspower blocs, which in a confronta-tion will bring humanity to theborder of self-destruction (e.g.Revelation 9:1-5). The king of thenorth in Asia and in Africa willconfront the West as an Islamicstate. We must therefore differen-tiate rulers from each other. Thebeast out of the sea (Revelation
13:1); the beast out of the earth(Revelation 13:11); the king ofthe north (Daniel 11:40); the kingof the south (Egypt; Daniel 11:40);the “chief prince” from the utter-most north (Ezekiel 38—39); thekings of the east (Revelation 16:12);and the harlot Babylon (Revelation17—18).The Antichrist will not bringabout a time of peace and safety,as many people say. In 1 Thessa-lonians 5:3, it just says that in theend times they will continuallysay, “Peace and safety,” but theScriptures do not speak of a stateof peace through the Antichrist.The safety of which the propheticWord speaks in Ezekiel 38:8 is thesafety that the Lord Jesus willbring Israel after His return.As the Antichrist is the secondbeast out of the earth, he will beking in Israel (Daniel 11:36-39)and will not build up his govern-ment seat in ancient Babylon, asmany scholars think. At His return

in Armageddon, the Lord Jesuswill destroy him with the breathof His mouth (Revelation 16:14-15; 17:14; 19:19-20). The earthlyBabylon, on the other hand, willbe destroyed in the end times bya nation from the north and bemade uninhabitable in connectionwith a brutal attack of the Medes(Kurds: Isaiah 13:17-21; Jeremiah50—51).The harlot Babylon mentionedin Revelation 17 cannot be Islam,then. The harlot Babylon is sittingon seven hills (Revelation 17:9).It is the city of kingship over thekings of the earth (Revelation17:18). It is the seven-hill city of
Rome. She is in contrast to theBride of the Lamb, the NewJerusalem, which represents thetrue Church (Revelation 21:9ff.).Thus, she is a false church in Rome.She rules Europe, i.e. the RomanEmpire (Revelation 17:3). This is,historically speaking, the CatholicChurch, which sets up the kingsand emperors. Her robes of scarlet(cardinals) and purple (bishops)characterize the high clergy ofRome (Revelation 17:4). Preciousstones, gold and pearls portraythe treasure chambers of the church(Revelation 17:4). The golden cupfull of abominations (idolatry) rep-resents the idolatrous center of

the Church of Rome, the sacrificein which the bread is worshipedas God (Revelation 17:4). She isdrunken from the blood of thesaints (Revelation 17:6), which isa fact, as the Church of Rome haskilled hundreds of thousands ofbelievers.The coming “new Roman” dic-tator and his ten highest ministerswill destroy this Roman harlotBabylon (Revelation 17:17). Thus,it becomes clear that the harlotBabylon cannot stand for a unitedworld religion. The religion of thebeast out of the sea and the beastout of the earth, namely the wor-ship of the dictator as the God offorces (Daniel 11:38) and theAntichrist (2 Thessalonians 2), arenot the same as the cult of theharlot of Babylon.The harlot of Babylon is the“mother of harlots” (Revelation17:5). All the churches which comefrom the Catholic Church in Romeand left the way of the saints aredaughters of the harlot of Babylon,and therefore must be distinguished
from her. As we say, like mother,like daughter (Ezekiel 16:44).Thus, the harlot Babylon is notthe restored ancient city of Babylonin Iraq. Babylon in Iraq is a pictureof the false Church of Rome, theharlot Babylon, just as Jerusalemin Israel is a picture of the trueChurch, the new Jerusalem. Thedetails in Revelation 17—18 donot fit Babylon in Iraq at all.In view of the statements of Bib-lical prophecy, we cannot expectan end-times revival in Europe orthe USA. Such a statement as someChristians claim fits the falseprophets which are spoken of inMatthew 24:11-24 (2 Timothy3—4, 2 Peter 2—3, Jude and 2Thessalonians 2:3 speak of a greatapostasy within professed Chris-tianity). When we become awareof what prophecy in the Word ofGod really says, then we also seehow important the Biblical call towatchfulness and sobriety is. Nogolden age will come before JesusChrist appears, but a falling away.(MR1216/822)

He gavehis son Judah a special blessing,as from his tribe the Messiah, theKing and Savior of the world,would come:“Judah, thou art he whom thybrethren shall praise: thy handshall be in the neck of thine ene-mies; thy father’s children shallbow down before thee. Judah isa lion’s whelp: from the prey, myson, thou art gone up: he stooped

down, he couched as a lion, andas an old lion: who shall rousehim up? The sceptre shall notdepart from Judah, nor a lawgiverfrom between his feet, until Shilohcome; and unto him shall the gath-ering of the people be” (Genesis49:8-10). In the end, Joseph was able tosay to his brothers, “But as foryou, ye thought evil against me;but God meant it unto good, tobring to pass, as it is this day, tosave much people alive” (Genesis50:20). Remember that the brotherswanted to kill him, but God turnedthis evil intention into good. Theonly one who seems to have seenthis was Joseph, who had to sayto his brothers:“Now therefore be not grieved,nor angry with yourselves, thatye sold me hither: for God didsend me before you to preservelife. For these two years hath thefamine been in the land: and yetthere are five years, in the whichthere shall neither be earing nor

These amazing and powerfulwords Jesus spoke to His disci-ples, are in the first place addressedto Israel. Jesus says: “…this is the lawand the prophets.” That means theentire Old Testament. The meaning:do good unto others.We know that Jesus identified the

When they at-tempted to buy weapons from theWest, they were denied. Yet, weknow that Israel did succeed. To-day, they have built a thriving andextremely successful nation. Whenit comes to agricultural know-how,particularly in semi-desert condi-tions, Israel ranks number one, get-ting the most crops from the leastbit of water. Regarding the high-tech industry, it is only a matter oftime before Israel becomes the lead-ing nation.But all that does not change Is-
rael’s deep desire for “shalom,” forpeace. Yet that is being denied untilthis day. The primary reason for theconflict, from Israel’s perspective, isArab settlers in the land of Israel.Arab-Palestinians and the rest ofthe world claim the opposite; theyinsist that Israel occupies Arabland.
One would think that a countrywith so many seemingly insur-mountable difficulties, would havemore than enough to do to simplyensure their very existence, particu-larly regarding defense. Not so.A recent article by israel21c.org
was headlined, “Israel Builds forLife in Faraway Places.” Here aresome excerpts:

in 2011 to help residents use their cul-

100 women, ages 18 to 60, from 20 vil-
lages. The project’s headquarters hosts
educational lectures on topics such as
women’s health.
Leigh Ofer, another young woman
with roots in Israel, cofounded Seed
Street, teaching kids from disadvan-
taged circumstances in New York’s
Harlem neighborhood to plant hydro-
ponic vegetables inside repurposed
shipping containers and sell what they
harvest.
Children and women are also the
focus of community-building programs
in developing countries in Latin
America and Africa under the aegis of
MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for
International Development Cooperation.
One recent example is a course on
Education for Sustainable Development
held at MASHAV’s Ofri Educational
Training Center in 2014. Joan Owaka,
the principal of Farasi Lane Primary
School in Kenya, implemented the
knowledge she acquired during the
ESD course in Israel and two years later,
her school has become a model of suc-
cess.
Community-building is the corner-
stone of Jerusalem-based Tevel
b’Tzedek, founded with the goal of
engaging young Jews and Israelis in
long-range activities in Nepal and
Burundi, such as teaching modern agri-
cultural methods and strengthening
schools, and building community gov-
ernance and activism structures to
include marginalized ethnic groups,
women and youth.
Wherever emergency relief is need-
ed, from Haiti to South Korea, IsraAID
staffers remain on the ground for sever-
al years to implement and train locals to
run programs on mental and physical
health, economic and social develop-
ment, women’s empowerment, psy-
chosocial rehabilitation, education,
child protection and combating gen-
der-based-violence.

region—devastated in 2011 by the

And this is only the tip of the iceberg. There are furtherdeals with a potential value of billions of dollars. Unlike
many Israeli startups, which are initially oriented towards makinga quick exit, many of the new companies in the field of car andauxiliary technologies stay cool in the face of the avalanche ofmerger, acquisition and investment proposals they receive.Car industry sub-contractors and large component developers,
