Stepping Into Internship Program - Position Description The Australian Network on Disability’s Stepping Into program is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses. Position Title Victoria Police - Offender Management Division Intern Location Melbourne Position Duration Minimum of 152 hours Position Overview We have an opportunity for you to provide support with regards to administrative duties, quality assurance and auditing of data, systems and policy/practice, as well as support to intelligence functions. This position will sit within the Sex Offender Register Unit at Victoria Police. Candidates should be aware that the role will include exposure to details of child sex offenders and their offending, and may be required to review files that relate to sex offenders, court documentation and victim statements.There is specialised psychological support for this team, however, candidates need to be aware of the resilience capabilities required when working with sensitive information of this natureThe following position details may be adjusted to fit the successful candidates skillset and interest. Position Overview

Role Accountabilities

Maintain accurate computer and manual management information, ensure system integrity and prioritise own work program to meet customer expectations in a timely manner.

Undertake a range of financial, purchasing and asset administration transactional activities and participate in the maintenance of related information systems in accordance with Victoria Police and Government policy and procedures.

Explain rules, procedures and policies to colleagues, clients and stakeholders within the divisions on a range of finance, purchasing, and asset administration issues.

Provide clerical support to the divisions including the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records/registers and the collation of data and information on confidential and sensitive material.

Acquire knowledge and understanding of relevant Acts and legislative provisions.

Attend to telephone and reception enquiries from personnel and contractors; provide initial information and advice as required.

Receive record and distribute mail and correspondence.

Provide general office support tasks including the operation of office equipment.

Selection Criteria

Experience in the performance of data entry and word processing tasks, including maintaining administrative records.

Demonstrated ability to accurately maintain computer and manual information systems, including the ability to accurately maintain and update administrative records.

Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure without direct supervision in a multifaceted team environment.

Good oral communication skills with the ability to provide reception and telephone services.

Ability to work in a sensitive and confidential environment including the ability to deal with disturbing information.

An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.

A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct, Financial Code of Practice, and the Organisational Values.

Special Requirements

The successful candidate may be required to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level determined by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.

The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals.

Other Relevant Information

The preferred candidate will be required to undergo security checks which will include fingerprint checks.

The successful candidate will be employed pursuant to Victoria Police policies and procedures along with the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.

The successful candidate will be required to complete the appropriate Declarable Association Acknowledgement Form/s.

While this position will have a nominated usual place of work, the position may be required to work at other locations, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Victorian Public Service Agreement.

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
