Dr. Richard Cohen
Health Care Directives Dr. Richard Cohen is a graduate of Jefferson University Medical School. He successfully completed his Orthopaedic Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His orthopaedic practice has been limited to total joint restoration for 40 years in Atlanta with Resurgens Orthopaedics. Dr. Cohen is the founder of the WellStar Health System’s total joint restoration program. He currently serves as a facilitator for that program. He is also the Medical Director for the WellStar Ethics Program and serves as a joint commission disease specific reviewer.

An advance health care directive, also known as living will, personal directive, advance directive, or advance decision, are instructions given by individuals specifying what actions should be taken for their health in the event that they are no longer able to make decisions due to illness or incapacity, and appoints a person to make such decisions on their behalf. A living will is one form of advance directive, leaving instructions for treatment. Another form authorizes a specific type of power of attorney or health care proxy, where someone is appointed by the individual to make decisions on their behalf when they are incapacitated. People may also have a combination of both. It is often encouraged that people complete both documents to provide the most comprehensive guidance regarding their care.[ Inside Today:

Matt Roberts reminded members of the tree planting project taking place on Saturday March 10th at Kennesaw Mountain.
President-Elect Neal Russell reminded members that District Conference is just around the corner.
Past President Pat McBride gave the club a golf tournament update and reminded members to be looking for sponsors and raffle prizes.
President-Elect Nominee Bill Callaway mentioned a sponsorship from Winwood Retirement Community.
Daryle Higginbotham explained an idea of how to identify prospective new members.
