Guiding Principles

1. The best way to experience Downtown New Rochelle is by meeting our residents, shopping in our stores, and viewing our waterfront. The best way to do this is on foot, so signage and safe, convenient walking downtown is the highest priority for our transportation system.

2. Downtown New Rochelle has the benefit of an incredibly busy train station. Capitalizing on this strength can only make the area stronger.

3. Many people drive to Downtown New Rochelle and the city has made significant investment in its parking system. That’s a great match! Let’s allow people to Park Once so we are not overwhelmed by traffic.

4. Downtown New Rochelle, the surrounding neighborhoods, parks, and waterfront are all within a 5-minute bike ride. Making it safe and easy to cycle is imperative for a sustainable future.
