Wawota’s economy is driven by three major industries – agriculture, oil and gas exploration and production, and tourism. Manufacturing and retail also contribute to the communities economic health.
Wawota has all the necessary goods and services for day to day living. Saskatchewan has a provincial sales tax (PST) and the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST). They are added to the price at the time of purchase.

Wawota offers you and your family many recreational amenities. We have a variety of sports, recreation, arts and cultural organizations that appeal to every age group.
The town is equipped with an indoor skating rink, curling rink, skateboard park, and numerous ball diamonds. We also have a splash park for the kids with playground equipment, tennis and basketball courts, and many green spaces to relax and play.
Our local museum provides a wonderful learning experience for anyone interested in local history and artwork. You can purchase locally made pottery at Just Kiln’ Time or take a class and make your own!
Golf Kenosee and White Bear offer two of the provinces best golf courses, and Kenosee Lake offers swimming, waterslides, horseback riding, walking and biking trails, and much more.

Post Office
You will need a post office box to receive mail and set up your services. To get a mailbox, go to the Canada Post building on Railway Avenue (Business Map 23), and ask them to issue you a box number and key. You will need to pick up your mail from the post office as there is no home delivery in our community.

Health Services
Wawota as part of the Sun Country Health Region provides quality health services to residents of this community. Wawota currently does not have a hospital, but Doctor’s hold office hours several days a week at the Medical Clinic. Please check the News-in-a-minute or www.wawota.com for a weekly schedule.
Ambulance services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please call 9-1-1.
Deer View Lodge is located on Wilfred Street. This beautiful facility has 27 long term beds, and 3 respite beds and offers numerous services and programs including: Mental health services, Dietician, Meals on Wheels, Daycare, and Lab and X-ray services. Call 739-2400 for more information.

Municipal ServicesThe Town of Wawota endeavours to develop an attractive, safe, prosperous, and sustainable community which is culturally and socially fulfilling for it’s residents.
To apply for water, sewer and garbage service, come to the Town Office on Railway Avenue and fill out an application. You will be billed every 3 months by the Town of Wawota for these services. Please call 739-2216 for more information.
Waste
The Town (via Regen’s Disposal) collects and disposes of waste on a weekly basis. Garbage rates are $30.00/quarter (August 2011).
The town also operates a landfill which is located southeast of town on Meridian Road.
Landfill Hours are:
April 1 - October 31 Sat 12:00pm-5:00pm
Wed 1:00pm-7:00pm
November 1 – March 31 Sat 1:00pm-5:00pm
Water
The Town of Wawota is very fortunate to have a high quality reverse osmosis water system to supply it’s residents.
Town water rates are as follows:
0 – 6000 gallons $82.50/quarter. (August,2011)
Over 6000 gallons $9.85 per 1000 gallons (over 6000 gallons)(August,2011)
Sewer
The Town pumps sewage to a lagoon system east of town. Sewage rates are $40.00/ quarter. (August,2011)
Infrastructure Maintenance & Development
The Town maintains and repairs the roads, sidewalks, water and sewer lines. The Town clears the streets of snow in the winter and leaves in the fall. The Town also adds new water and sewer services as required.
Levy: $20.00/quarter (August,2011)

Bylaw Services
Town bylaws address issues regarding animal control, traffic and parking, public health and safety, as well as general nuisances and complaints. Bylaws and bylaw enforcement are currently under review. Please call the Town Office if you have any questions or concerns @ 739-2216.
Cemetery
The town owns and operates a cemetery east of town on Highway 48. Seasonal caretakers are hired for maintenance in the summer months. Please call the Town Office @ 739-2216 for more information on plots and costs.
Town Hall
The Town owns and maintains the Wawota Town Hall. This is a community hall which can be rented out for events, activities, workshops, or meetings. Contact the Town Office @ 739-2216 for booking information.

The Wawota & Community Early Learning Center offers a safe and nurturing environment for children 6 weeks to 12 yrs old. Government licensed facility with 30 spaces available. Open Monday to Friday 6am-6pm.
