RAPPER EMINEM DONATES $225,000 TO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Melanie Kohn renames the Detroit Theater ‘Eminem Auditorium’ in
his honor
DETROIT, Mich.— Melanie Kohn, owner of the Detroit Center for Performing Arts, received $225,000 from Marshall Mathers, professionally known as Eminem, for her fundraiser to renovate the center. To express her great appreciation, Kohn will rename the Agate Theater the ‘Eminem Auditorium.’
“I am confident that the Detroit Center for Performing Arts will produce the next generation of Hollywood stars,” Kohn said. “This is a privilege that will draw attention to the students and their abilities, providing them with a real shot at fame.”
Kohn explained her plan is to expand the theater, increasing seating from 670 to 1,750 seats
and adding studios. According to Kohn, the expansion will cost $3.5 million. The new-‐and-‐improved Eminem Auditorium will allow for more elaborate performances, and provide a professional environment for students to reach their potential, Kohn said.
“I feel honored to be a part of something in my hometown that will help young aspiring
artists achieve their dreams and experience the same opportunities as I have,” Eminem said. For more information or to make a donation, call 248-‐890-‐1112 or visit dcpa.com.
