4-H Youth Membership Requirements

4-Hers to be a member in good standing you must attend a percentage of club meetings established in your club by-laws (EXAMPLE The BYLAWS state your club will have 10 MEETINGS A YEAR AND YOU NEED TO ATTEND 5 OF THE TEN) to be eligible to participate in events such as but not limited to fairs (county and state) showing animal projects participating in county and state contests

There are also enrollment deadlines for participation For some projects or events members MUST be enrolled by a certain date to be eligible for participation

2020 4-H Online Enrollment Procedure

The Maryland 4-H Online Enrollment System will be open for new enrollments and re-enrollments after January 2 2020 Returning members and UME adult volunteers will re-enroll by logging into the website using the family email address and password that they used to set up their initial profile If you have forgotten your password there is an option to request a new one If you have forgotten your email address you must contact Donna Mohler at dmohlerumdedu

2020 Annual State 4-H Participation Fee will be paid when you enroll into the 4-H on-line system The Annual State 4-H Participation Fee is $1000 per member with a maximum of $3000 per family for families with 3 or more regular age members There is no charge to be a volunteer

RECORD BOOKS amp DIAMOND CLOVER PLANS DUE - December 6 2019

As we complete another 4-H livestock year we would like to congratulate everyone on an amazing show year The 29th Charles County 4-H Livestock Show and Sale was an enormous success Thanks to the Charles County Fair Board and all our volunteers This was one of the best shows and fair weekends ever We have the best volunteers in the country Thank you for your support of the 4-H program

STEER WEIGH-IN

The 2019 steer weigh-in and ear tagging will be held on Saturday February 1st at the Charles County Fairgrounds from 900 am ndash 1100 am If you are planning to raise a steer for 4-H you must bring the steer to the fairgrounds at that time If you have any questions please call Bonnie at 301 934-5404

You must register your steer with the 4-H office by Thursday January 2nd The registration form can be found at the end of this edition of the VOICE or at the 4-H office website

Outdoor Discovery Groups will begin meeting January 4 2020 We will meet on the first Saturday of each month thereafter Meeting locations will vary as we explore the amazing natural resources of Charles County Open to current and prospective 4-H members so bring a friend and come get some fresh air Please call the office to register 301-934-5404 so we have ample supplies and staff on hand

bull 9-10am Clovers (5-7 years) o This group will focus on natural discovery learning about the amazing natural world

around us and engaging in nature crafts and games that highlight what wersquove learned together

bull 1030-12 noon Juniors and Intermediates (8-13 years) o This group will focus on natural exploration investigating outdoor pursuits such as

fishing hiking camping outdoor cooking ecology and environmental stewardship We will investigate predatorprey relationships camouflage flora and fauna identification hellip

bull 1-3pm Seniors (14-18 years) o This group will focus on natural exploration and stewardship exploring the natural

resources around us and learning how we can all take actions to protect and preserve them We will also have the opportunity to meet with career professionals to discover career opportunities for those interested in the great outdoors

Natural Discovery Days will be offered this summer August 11-13 Details will be forthcoming but this will be a three day camp on wheels exploring natural resources nearby If you are interested in natural exploration save the dates and plan to join us Cooking Classes will be offered in 4 week sessions this Winter and Spring Classes are open to current 4-H members and will be held at the Bel Alton office If you have a friend that loves to cook but isnrsquot enrolled yet encourage them to get signed up so they can join us too Wersquoll send dates out soon

Maryland 4-H State Council

Maryland 4-H State Council General Membership Applications are now OPEN and due by November 15

The Maryland 4-H State Council is the premiere leadership opportunity in Maryland It is comprised of active 4-H members from around the state interested in developing high level leadership skills and representing their county 4-H program State Council members have the opportunity to learn from each other volunteers and facultystaff outside of their club and county The State Council is led by a youth officer team and facultystaff advisors

4-H members must be 13 as of January 1 2020 to apply and must submit an application package that includes a cover letter 4-H resume certification letter from countycity 4-H Educator and a current picture of the applicant

Maryland 4-H State Council General Membership Applications are now OPEN and due by November 15

The Maryland 4-H State Council is the premiere leadership opportunity in Maryland It is comprised of active 4-H members from around the state interested in developing high level leadership skills and representing their county 4-H program State Council members have the opportunity to learn from each other volunteers and facultystaff outside of their club and county The State Council is led by a youth officer team and facultystaff advisors

4-H members must be 13 as of January 1 2020 to apply and must submit an application package that includes a cover letter 4-H resume certification letter from countycity 4-H Educator and a current picture of the applicant

As we complete another 4-H livestock year we would like to congratulate everyone on an amazing show year The 29th Charles County 4-H Livestock Show and Sale was an enormous success Thanks to the Charles County Fair Board and all our volunteers This was one of the best shows and fair weekends ever We have the best volunteers in the country Thank you for your support of the 4-H program

STEER WEIGH-IN

The 2019 steer weigh-in and ear tagging will be held on Saturday February 1st at the Charles County Fairgrounds from 900 am ndash 1100 am If you are planning to raise a steer for 4-H you must bring the steer to the fairgrounds at that time If you have any questions please call Bonnie at 301 934-5404

You must register your steer with the 4-H office by Thursday January 2nd The registration form can be found at the end of this edition of the VOICE or at the 4-H office website

Outdoor Discovery Groups will begin meeting January 4 2020 We will meet on the first Saturday of each month thereafter Meeting locations will vary as we explore the amazing natural resources of Charles County Open to current and prospective 4-H members so bring a friend and come get some fresh air Please call the office to register 301-934-5404 so we have ample supplies and staff on hand

bull 9-10am Clovers (5-7 years) o This group will focus on natural discovery learning about the amazing natural world

around us and engaging in nature crafts and games that highlight what wersquove learned together

bull 1030-12 noon Juniors and Intermediates (8-13 years) o This group will focus on natural exploration investigating outdoor pursuits such as

fishing hiking camping outdoor cooking ecology and environmental stewardship We will investigate predatorprey relationships camouflage flora and fauna identification hellip

bull 1-3pm Seniors (14-18 years) o This group will focus on natural exploration and stewardship exploring the natural

resources around us and learning how we can all take actions to protect and preserve them We will also have the opportunity to meet with career professionals to discover career opportunities for those interested in the great outdoors

Natural Discovery Days will be offered this summer August 11-13 Details will be forthcoming but this will be a three day camp on wheels exploring natural resources nearby If you are interested in natural exploration save the dates and plan to join us Cooking Classes will be offered in 4 week sessions this Winter and Spring Classes are open to current 4-H members and will be held at the Bel Alton office If you have a friend that loves to cook but isnrsquot enrolled yet encourage them to get signed up so they can join us too Wersquoll send dates out soon
