Welcome to the first of many wonderful district events that Interact District 5170 has to offer us all for this exciting 2014-2015 year. Today at New Presidents’ Meeting we’ll all be given

the opportunity to teach, share, and experience the beginning of a new chapter within our lives. Everyone in this room - regardless of personal background and details, regardless of whether you been in Interact since your freshmen year or since yesterday - is an exceeding leader and a catalyst for change that has a story of how they got here and a reason of why they are here joining us today.

With Immense Interact Love,DYNAMO DISTRICT COUNCIL

Dear Dedicated Interactor,

Growing up, the hero in our lives had abilities like no other - he could lift things of unexplainable proportions, she could fly, they could read minds, and bend time but as we got older, we

realized we fell short of having any of these phenomenal qualities and powers. Although we cannot morph into animals, run at the speed of light, or bend the laws of nature - Dynamo District Council heavily believes that everyone who is joining us today are the superheroes of our world. Whether it be a large breakthrough of epic proportions or a small act of significant difference - we are the individuals who influence our community and harbor the drive towards change. Believe in your abilities, although not obtained by radioactive spills or spiders, to make a difference within your community and the world. You are the heroes of our world, of today, and of our future.

Dear Dedicated Interactor,

Page 4: New Presidents' Meeting 2014 Booklet

In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight let those who worship evil’s might, beware my power... Green Lantern’s light! Hello Interactors from near and far it is I, Green Lantern! When I am not Green

Lantern I am also known as Oliver Borg. All evil should beware the power of light, because all of us Interactors have this power. The world’s Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors are collaborating under one theme this year; Light Up Rotary. We each have the light within ourselves, and thus the power to change those around us. I challenge you to take a stand against injustice in your community, and in the world. Today at NPM you have the ability to share your light with almost two hundred other leaders from your community. Take the chance to network, immerse yourself in the Interact culture, and learn how to be a better leader. “One doesn’t discover new lands without losing sight of the shore.”- Andre Gide. Continue past the shore! Dare to discover new lands, and make the impossible, possible. We are the best in the world because Interactors like you aren’t afraid to lose sight of the shore. So what are you waiting for? Shine your light, and cast off!

Not so fast Mirror Master! My apologies, I must have mistaken you for my nemesis. Why you must be the Interactors of District 5170! I am Senior Flash of the Justice League (Mission San Jose High) and I hope you’ll leave today

with a lightspeed energy bar full of belief in yourself. I look forward to meeting you all because everyone is quite the character! My partner the Green Lantern and Lieutenant Governor Oliver Borg embodies exactly who we are: ordinary people fighting human, not paranormal, villains. The barriers we are trying to break are simply fruits of our human history. Despite my reputation as a scarlet speedster I have a confession to make: faster isn’t always better, life isn’t a sprint just over the next obstacle but an endurance marathon over barrier after barrier. Think before you do and take a moment everyday to reflect, because “the life unexamined is a life not worth living (Socrates)”. I’ll be letting you all in on a secret of mine today, how to control light! But in exchange I have a request for you, use this superpower not to travel faster in life but to shine light on all the dark issues in the world and unappreciated people in your life. So while you’re here today ensconced in a sea of passionate and dynamic leaders, grow. Take the opportunity to listen to each and every superhero, pick up different superpowers from each other, and bring it back to your comic quest to change the world.

Greetings Officers of Interact Club! I am Howard, also known as Superman for today! From the moment I found out I was adopted by my Kansas parents and displayed superhuman abilities, I figured out my objective in life. I

knew I wanted to make use of my powers for the benefit of humanity but I did not know where to go to until I saw the Rotary International sign as I was flying around the town of San Jose. Similarly, when I encountered the Interact sign as a Freshmen at Independence High School, I slowly found my purpose and the way I want to live the rest of my life, helping/saving others while creating limitless friendships/memories. Interact was the perfect way for me to utilize my organization abilities as secretary in serving others whether it would be in our community or anonymously from thousands of miles away. Before we start our journey, I sincerely welcome all of you Interactors to our 2014 New Presidents’ Meeting, I hope all your expectations for today were blown away and you will take everything from today’s experience for the rest of your term, high school experience, or even the rest of your life. If you see me around disguised as Superman, acting rough and aggressive, I promise I am the total opposite when I am not in character. Whether my hobbies include photography to milk tea cafes, there’s a quote that applies to every aspect of life, “Be humble in your confidence yet courageous in your character.” ^_^ <3 ∞

At a young age I fell into a vat of awesomeness and i became wonderwoman. I knew i wanted to use my powers for good, but how? I tried at first to do it alone but i realized I needed a family who

had the same goals and aspirations. I searched high and low through the land of santa clara. It was then at Wilcox high school I found interact! The perfect way for me to use my powers for the community with the Justice League of district 5170 as my accomplices, where I contribute now as Area 11 director. I push myself to the limit as I run to achieve my goals. Given, during the pursuit, there are always obstacles, such as hurdles, but I always finish strong. Running takes leadership, one must always lead the pack. I demonstrate tremendous leadership qualities through my 4 years serving within ASB. My duties as Wonder Woman are far from finished yet executed through my love for Interact, ASB, sports and family. Also, as a side job away from saving the world with service, I pursue professional Christmas caroling and the career of loving Disney movies.

By the power of Neptune, the presidents and officers of Interact District 5170 of today UNITE… and I am so ecstatic to welcome you all to NPM! Hello, I’m Mermaid Man, champion of the deep, but you can call me Justine! When I’m

not battling Evil alongside Barnacle Boy and the International Justice League of Super Acquaintances, I love to listen to and make music, watch films, read books, drink juice, and serve the community through Interact. I may be an old coot, but I’ve realized that anyone, at an age (or background), can serve those around them! It doesn’t take superpowers to do good (the power’s all in the costume anyway; why else would we run around in colored undies?) because we are all capable of unleashing the passion and power specially vested within all of us! During NPM, remember to keep an open mind and soak in (like a Spongebob!) all the experiences and ideas of the leaders around you. Your adventures from here on out are what you make of it, young whippersnapper. I hope you’ll take what you learned today and apply your new skills back in your home clubs to help Interact defeat Evil to such lengths never seen before! TO THE NEW INTERACT YEAR!

I’m tired of playing second banana to a man who wears a bra. But I guess we always save the day together, the old coot and I. Yeah that’s me, Barnacle Boy, otherwise known as Sheryl, your Area 13 Director! I’m second in line to Mermaid Man, but we’re number one

as a team. Welcome to NPM, where you’ll find just the right partners, teammates, and family to make your Interact experience action-packed and successful. While fighting off evil and protecting the citizens of Bikini Bottom can wear an old coot out, I always find time to spend with my family, my Girl Scout Troop, and my Interact team. If I’m not having a Harry Potter marathon for the millionth time or trying to catch up on my senior (citizen) year sleep, I’m out changing the world through my passion and love for all things service above self. Now, I’m not just saying this to get all sappy on you, but if there’s one thing I want all you young whippersnappers to take away from NPM, it’s the inspiration and motivation to go out and give your all to Interact this year. Listen to other thoughts, keep an open mind, and most of all, don’t be afraid to speak up and share your ideas. I’ve been through a whole lot of antics with the old coot, Mermaid Man, and if we weren’t there to balance each other out, well, who knows what corner of the deep waters we’d be in right now. So when you go out there and learn new skills and become wiser by the second, just remember to make a friend or two because at the end of the day, it’s the support, the love, and the family in Interact that keeps you going. After all, it just wouldn’t be the same if it was just Barnacle Boy. Mermaid Man AND Barnacle Boy are here to guide you through the murky waters of apathy and to the beautiful roaring waves of service! It’s time to wave in the new Interact year!

Hello everyone! My name is Chrisly Macaraeg, also known as Lavagirl! I am one of your Digital Media Coordinators on DC, and I’m also a senior attending Moreau Catholic High School. I wish that I could

meet every single one of you personally to shake your hands, but you would all probably melt away in flames. However, when I’m not spewing out lava and fire I enjoy watching old 80’s movies, dancing ballet, sleeping, playing with my dog, eating, crocheting, eatings again, listening to doowap, and leading my school. And when I’m not saving the world, I’m serving the world. I am just erupting with so much excitement to see all of you create a difference with all of your unique talents. You are all such amazing leaders and I know you are all ready to ignite your burning passions for service! Remember to also stay engaged with what you’re doing, and to do everything with 100% effort. Get ready to build new leadership skills, and to keep the Interact flame alive!

Hey fishies! I’m SharkBoy. I was raised by Sharks, and oh! They are mean people! They forced me to live underwater, and eat raw fish. I love eating sushi. It is probably my favorite food. I also enjoy shooting some hoops with

my friends, and playing video games. I’m pretty intense when I really get into it! I am also a League of Legends fan! This one time when I was playing League of Legends I got a penta kill, and I walked out of my room screaming! I think I cried a little. Even though I enjoy my games a lot I put family before anything. This doesn’t stop at just blood related. Close friends become my family, and of course I have my Interact family. My family means everything to me. I love these people and it’s great to know they got my back! I also like trying accents, and singing even though I’m a pretty awful singer, but I am a pretty awesome dancer. I kill it on the dance floor. I always make up new moves for every dance I go to so I keep my dance moves hip and new. Some other stuff I like to do is playing pool, and ping pong. My Dad would always say, “if you beat me at ping pong I will let drive my car.” I don’t even have my license. I never won anyway so it didn’t really matter

Ready to kick some Mojo Jojo butt, officers of D5170? I’m Blossom, the pink Powerpuff Girl, and I’m here to help you help your own Townsvilles! When I’m not fighting crime, I go by Reena Xue and serve

as the Area 3 Director on Dynamo DC. Besides keeping my sisters in check, I enjoy ice skating, hanging out with friends, and eating Chipotle. My job as a Powerpuff Girl obviously takes energy, but the fulfillment that service provides me fuels me to keep on fighting the bad guys and bringing change to my Townsville, as I hope it does for you. My passion for Interact is as fiery as my red hair, and it’s the people that makes the organization so great. The constant support has helped me realize my shortcomings and develop my strengths so that I can, once again, save the day by putting service above self! At NPM, as you’re surrounded by fellow leaders of D5170, I challenge you to keep an open mind as you share ideas and power your love for Interact. I can’t wait to fight the crime of disservice with you this year because we’re Powerpuff Girls, and that’s what we do. Duh!

INTERACT... IS UNDER ATTACK! And the only way to save it is through SERVICE! Hey there, my name is Apoorva Rajanala, but with a little bit of Chemical X, I am Buttercup, the Green Power Puff Girl! I am also the Co-

Digital Media Coordinator on Dynamo DC and this year and am more than just excited to be here! In my free time, other than when I’m basically saving the world with sugar, spice, and everything nice, I enjoy frolicking in fields, spending time with my little kitty, and of course, being an Interactor! I have a black belt in tae kwon do, which comes in handy with my job, ya know? Even though Buttercup always has a serious demeanor, I love deep talks around campfires, Olaf-type warm hugs, and cheesy jokes (so make sure to tell me all of your jokes because I also love to laugh!) Interact has been a huge part of my life for four years now, so my passion for service has had a long time to grow. You have or are about to embark on a beautiful journey and gain an amazingly supportive second family, so I can’t wait to see where you are all headed. With your help, once again the world will be saved by the Power Puff Girls!

Nananananananana, BATMAN, nananana, BATMAN. Hello, my name is Bruce Wayne by day and Batman by night; when I’m not in Gotham City, I go by Daniel Chan. I like to hang upside down on the ceilings of dark caves. Just

kidding, jokes aside, I am actually a very real homosapien. The world (Gotham City) knows me as the Dark Knight, mainly because I fight crime at night and it’s quite dark at night. My favorite past time is to drive around in my “Batmobile” and solve the world’s problems in my trusty black cape with my deep raspy voice. By day, I am a billionaire and I have a bat-cave under my mansion- that is all you need to know. When I’m not fighting crime, I like to frequent multiple restaurants and milk tea cafes to stock up life’s treasures. I don’t only fight crime at night, I also like to go on night adventures and make memories that I will remember even after I retire as Batman. Even though I am pretty busy every day being a CEO and crime-fighter, I am always ready to roll out when the call comes to provide service to the community or hang out with old and new friends. So feel free to say “hi” to me if you see me strolling around at NPM in the shadows, you can either call me Batman, Bruce Wayne, or Daniel Chan. See you there, good citizens of Interact D5170.

I wear a mask. And that mask, it’s not to hide who I am, but to create what I am.” This mask for me has recently changed to a maroon polo or a t-shirt with a Jelly fish on it! When I am not

masked up, and saving Gotham, I work in District 5170 as the Area 10 director. Instead of driving the streets in my bat mobile and saving citizens from evil, I swim and play water polo, and play music with my school band, and when I’m not doing that, I love to swim and surf in the ocean. I also am in a heroic club called Interact that volunteers for local communities. Through interact I have been lucky enough to meet many other heroes who service their communities in amazing ways, and are incredibly kind. Many of them are here today and hopefully you will be able to meet them! And always remember that “its not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us.”

Welcome, my worthy subjects, to the wonderful realm NPM-gard! I am Thor-ina (aka Events Coordinator). Ar-Thor, and I have come from the mighty kingdom of Asgard to unite

forces with you. We are so very honored to have you, our future leader, join us for today’s festivities and workshops! We encourage you to share your strengths and bond with the family throughout your Interact adventure! Although I am a full time superhero (of course), I also love traveling across realms to do my favorite things, like cooking, watching movies, and sharing jokes with my fellow Interactors. I also love lending a hammer to anyone who is stuck or has any walls to break down! Make many friends and enjoy the journey–the rainbow lighted crystal bridges, capes and all; good luck to you!

Greetings Midgard dwellers! In my home realm, I am known as Thor; when I visit this realm I hail under the name Arthur! I reside in Asgard, one of the nine realms of the Cosmos, where I am king and protect my people from villians such as the

Jotuns. I have trekked a great distance across the Bifrost to be here today for NPM to train the leaders of the biggest, strongest, and most succesful Interact district in the world! Despite the distance, I actually travel to Earth quite often--so often that I am the Area 9 Director of Dynamo District Council this year! Now, you may ask how one balances being both a king and an area director... you will learn just that today! Along with this, I ask you to keep an open mind, a willingness to seize this opportunity, and a bright flame of burning passion lit as you learn and grow alongside your fellow presidents! I also urge you to venture out of your comfort zone and cherish every moment! When I am not ruling my kingdom or smashing heads with my enchanted hammer, Mjolnir, I enjoy singing, running, and manipulating the forces of the weather to summon lightning upon ants. The reason why I love Earth so much and visit it so frequently is because I learned a very important lesson upon my first arrival. My father, Odin, banished me to this realm after I disobeyed his orders to not seek war with the intruding Jotuns. Amidst my stay, I learned that war was not worth the lives of innocent people. Today, let Earth’s people teach you what they taught me--how to be a true leader.

Whaddup homies! I hope you’re psyched for NPM, because you’re in for a load of workshops and inspiration that will help you kick butt in this upcoming school year. The name’s Donatello, but you can call me Cara.

When I’m not fighting crime in the streets (like people putting mustard on their hot dogs--gross), I serve as the Area 6 Director of District 5170 and attend Milpitas High School as a junior. There, I am pitted against everyone’s least favorite evil villains: lengthy lab reports, calculus tests, and suspicious cafeteria food. In the hours that aren’t spent poring over schoolwork, I enjoy going on adventures with my TMNT brothers and documenting them with the use of my greatest weapon-- my camera! My favorite thing about photography is that when you look back at a picture, you recall the memories made and the lessons that you might have learned from the experience captured. When you leave this event, you will have a new experience under your belt. Use what you learn here to karate chop the obstacles that you will surely face this year, whether it be in Interact, school, or life. Always give it your 5170% because once a moment passes, you won’t get it back. I have confidence that you will all step out of your shells today at NPM and collaborate with the other leaders of this district to make this a turtley rad year!

HEY THERE DUDES! It’s totally wicked to see all of you at NPM! My name’s Leonardo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, also known as Ben Huang, and I’m a senior at Branham High School this year in Area 7! Not only am

I dedicated to helping others and having fun, but I also love to meet new people (and I’m good at remembering names!). Much like my name suggests, I am a connoisseur of the arts. I love everything to do with cinema, television, books, and even music, but ironically not art or painting, which the great Leonardo DaVinci was most famous for. When I’m not out there fighting the crimes of the world that are homework and school, I love to just chill on the couch, watch television, and eat pizza with my friends, like the TMNT often do. My advice for the upcoming year, which you’ll hear a ton throughout the year, is to really step out of your comfort zone and try to meet every gnarly person you possibly can. Because Interact is so focused every year on working together to achieve fantastic goals known as the International and Community projects, working together really is the most efficient, effective, and enjoyable option (or as we like to say, ‘Stronger Together’!). I really hope to see each and every single one of you not only embody “Service Above Self”, but also enjoy yourself! Here’s to a tubular year!

Hi everybody! My name is Number 3, sometimes I go by Kuki Sanban but truthfully my real name is Ilene Le which almost everybody calls me by! I spend most of my time kicking a lot of ugly, adult butt as the Divisionary

Tactics Expert and Medical Specialist for Sector V of the Kids Next Door but when I’m not busy and when my favorite Rainbow Monkeys TV show isn’t on, I like to serve under District 5170’s District Council as their Co-Publications Coordinator (That’s where all the nice, generous, really good looking adult Rotarians are). I am a senior from Oak Grove High School within Area 8. I really enjoy my job on District Council mainly because I get to design, draw, and represent the face for the community service club that I love so dearly with a fiery-burning passion that is strong enough to bring us all into a drought. I also like pillows, spirally roller coasters, candy stores, fluffy animals, parties, and icecream- LOTS AND LOTS OF ICECREAM!! I may be just a kid but I believe that I can do anything any adult can do. No matter how little or how young, you can do anything as long as you put you put your heart into it. When you put your heart and feelings into something- THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN’T DO!

Bonjour and welcome to Sector V! I’m Numbuh 5, but you can also call me Rujuta. I’m this year’s Area 12 Director and a senior at Fremont High School. My life passions include candy

and ice cream as well as singing and, of course, service! I hope all of you not-so-badolescents have a fantastic time at NPM today and walk away with new friendships and lots of useful advice on how to tackle this upcoming school year. Operation: S.E.R.V.I.C.E is going to be an unbelievably remarkable success, I just know it. Get pumped for a great year. Kids next door, battle stations!

Service Above Self Interact. Long ago, Northern California lived in harmony. Then, everything changed when Interact was created. Only the Interactors, the masters service, can expand it. And when the community needed them most, they were

there. A few years past, and I became an Interactor, an Area 4 Director. Although my leadership skills are great, I still have a lot to learn. But I believe, WE can change the world. I’m Keani (pronounced key-on-knee or kay-on-knee). I’m a senior at American High School (Go Eagles!) and the Area 4 director. I’ve been an Interactor since freshman year and fell in love with the club. My ethnicity is Indonesian, Hawaiian, and Filipino. I play volleyball year-round and canoe paddle during the summer. I love to dress up, but I love my lazy days. I am probably the most indecisive person to exist on this earth. I’m into reggae music, the beach, summer, and all things tropical. My secret dream is to be a Roxy surfer model, but I need to learn how to surf first. My favorite movies are Parent Trap, 50 first dates, and Nemo. I’m obsessed with my favorite character Squirt the turtle. I have 3 squirt stuffed animals, and a Squirt painting. I’m a horrible reader and no matter how many times i try to sit down and read a book, my mind wanders off. Water is my favorite drink. I hate soda. I’m a horrible cook and pretty much burn my food 2 out of 3 times. I love to have fun in the sun, but I think best at night. I love to volunteer, help others, and make new friends. So, let’s be friends (:

Greetings Interactors of District 5170! My name is Justin and I am your Area 1 Director, but I am also Tenzin, a master airbender. My love for helping others grow as people and improve their skills lead

me to teach airbending to the Avatar. It’s truly inspirational to see people I know develop into better people and reach their goals. The air element represents me very well because I am usually relaxed and carefree. I go with the flow and adapt easily to situations thrown at me. I am flexible, but strong willed and motivated. When I’m not riding an air scooter from place to place, you can find me running around with my cross country team or just hanging out with friends. I also love to go snowboarding whenever I get the chance. So if you ever find yourself in Republic City needing help or just some company, you know who to find!

Raven, just Raven. Or I guess you can also call me Stacy Phan, the Area 2 Teen Titan Director. I’m originally from Azarath, sent to live in limbo, but because of my demonic father (annoying right? Demon dads are the worst) I ended up

coming to Earth to the most epic and least annoying place in the world, also known as San Leandro, the Jumping City of Area 2. When I’m not trying to avoid Cyborg’s and Beast boys lame attempts to be funny or Starfire’s attempts to go shopping, I’m trying to save the world through service with the rest of the Interact Teen Titans. And I guess we’re doing it since we are the biggest and the best district in the world and Interact is pretty much the least infuriating thing out there. You can’t really get irritated with people who are just trying to make the world a better place. Service and Interact are basically the only things that bring color to my world. That and the FLC shirts that bring color to my wardrobe and milk tea and desserts. Well, that’s me, now I guess you might as well come say hi since Interact IS a family and I guess I will be interested and wouldn’t mind getting to know you more (say hi to me because if you don’t, I will say hi to you and hide you in my cape). I mean I did skip meditating for this. So, yeah, say hi, whatever.

Hello, earthlings! My character is Starfire, but you can call me Liz! Starfire from Teen Titans Go! is an alien princess from the planet Tamaran, and so she is learning the ways of Earth and gradually adapting to its customs. Earth’s

vast expanse of land is home to 7 billion people from infinite backgrounds and numerous cultures. However, all human beings show a great deal of diversity as well as unity! And that’s why you are all here at NPM today-- to find what you’re passionate about, to find what you want to achieve, and lastly, to find what you can offer to Earth and to its people. Of course, many of you may walk into NPM as a timid, shy individual or may not know what to expect, and that’s absolutely okay! The important thing is is to always be open-minded and willing to try new things! This is your chance to venture outside your comfort zone and simply be you, regardless of your fears or any of our differences, because you are perfectly imperfect. Much like my character, Starfire, I’m eager, compassionate, and friendly. I love fur animals and food! (Who doesn’t?) Also, I love to socialize and to learn about others, and I definitely would love to learn more about you! See you around!

Hello citizens! My name is Jonathan Lam, and I’m one of the Publications Coordinators on Dynamo DC! You can also call me Mister Fantastic, graduate of Harvard with PHDs in Physics and Electrical Engineering (aka.

Senior @ Independence High School, San Jose)! What do I do in my personal life? Well, I really dig graphic design and video editing, and I enjoy playing my trumpet and tennis on my free time. My favorite movie is “Inception”, and I love cookies and cream flavored ice cream. Interact jumped into my life during freshman year, and since then, it has changed my life in ways I thought weren’t possible. At first, I was scared of myself and was extremely unconfident with what I had, but as I churned along, I discovered that I didn’t need to be anyone else but MYSELF. Interact has helped STRETCH my horizons of opportunity, and raise the ceiling of hope. Trying so hard to reverse the powers I was miraculously given, it was easy to forget that I could use these powers for defeating evil. We are all superheroes on the inside, but a true superhero embraces the power within. So love YOURSELF because you are AMAZING for who you are! Somehow by the magic of space travel and dark matter, I am here. And I am happy. Mister Fantastic OUT!

You are as cold as ice, but boooooooooy, do I have the flame to heat you up! My name is Kevin Dieu, and I’m the Area 8 Director of Dynamo DC, but you can call me “Johnny Storm”. Why is my body covered in flames so

you ask? In a trip to outerspace, my spaceship was hit with cosmic radiation that reassembled me and three other people’s DNA configuration, mutating us, and bestowing upon us superpowers! In the heat of the moment as this radiation was seeping through my bones, I had a flashback to my times back in high school. I was a pretty involved guy back then, from cross country to badminton, from HOSA to Interact. Interact. The club that changed my life. You see, I was a shy fellow back then, but Interact, through its welcoming atmosphere, empowered me to change.. I started to meet new people and breaking the...no wait.. MELTING the ice became child’s play. I know I may sound like a crazy hothead or look like one, but keep an open mind so that your Interact journey could burn its presence into your soul. Never lose your fiery hot Interact passion. However, if that is ever extinguished, just know that I am here to ignite it for you once again, anytime you want! I promise to kindle your love, peace, and passion through Interact, so FLAME ON!

Rogers, my close friends call me Natasha Kuo! In addition to proudly serving our fine nation, I am also the Captain of Area 7 for District 5170! When I first joined Interact, I was a tiny little freshman (and I am still tiny), and I was drawn to the club because of the promise for change in the world, similarly to how Steve was drawn to join the army. As I got more deeply involved, I learned that Interact is everything I wanted and more. Just like my alter ego as Steve Rogers values truth, honor, courage, and the good for all people, Interact puts “Service Above Self,” which is why we are all here today! I know that sometimes life gets rough, but just like Steve, we should never give up and eventually we will reach our goals. If you have something to fight for and believe you can do it, you WILL make a difference, because every little thing counts. So tell me, what do you fight for? What are you willing to put 200% of your effort into? This long (but awesome) journey ahead will be tough, but unlike our one-man supersoldier, you’re not alone because Interactors are stronger together! Keep up the good work, soldiers!

Hi! My name is Pooja Nair, but you may know me better as the winter soldier. When I’m not busy being brainwashed by the bad guys and used as a ruthless mercenary, I am doing my best to help out my community

through service. I enjoy waking up early, practicing and teaching mixed martial arts, fighting for justice with my old buddy captain america. Sometimes when I get a little stressed out from my work with Captain America and the Black Widow, I like to reblog pictures of rain and trees on tumblr. My biggest passion in life, even more than beating up bad guys and brooding, is Interact. When I was brain washed during the war, life was very hard and I had no sense of who I was. Being a part of Interact, really helped me find myself and find a good set of friends, like the rest of the Marvel team. Through Interact I was able to create a hundred new amazing memories for every one they had wiped away. I am so excited to serve all of the District this year, whether that entails fighting the bad dudes, helping set-up or strengthen your Interact/Jr. Interact, or just some advice. Feel free to reach out to me any time you need. I promise you that under this black bandana I’m actually a really nice person.

MARGARETHE PFEFFER

Margarethe “Dash” Pfeffer – We had to be the Incredibles, because they represent everything Interact is about; people with superpowers! Each of you has the superpower to make a difference this year. All

we need to do is unleash those powers within each of us. As your Interact Co-Chair, I will use my Dash speedster superpower to remove barriers to help each of you succeed in leading your Interact clubs. Together we will use our Dash “enhanced durability” to not let anything stop us. I love working with our Interactors, it makes life fun. That is why I volunteered with RYLA as Leadership Director for 14 years and am now am in my 4th year with District Council. In my day job I think I must have superpowers as well or I would never get through half the work that comes my way. Luckily I love to smile and can break into laughter at almost anything! Together we can Break Barriers & Build Bridges. We will soar to new heights together! I can’t wait to see everyone grow and accomplish great things in 2014-15.

In my early years, I seemed to be a feminist, both adamant to break the “glass ceiling” that Supers were a predominantly male profession and that there is no way I would marry. Life had other plans for

me, however. Mr. Incredible had managed to be so dazzling that I broke down and agreed to marry him. Shortly after our wedding, a chain reaction of events resulted in Supers being outlawed by the U.S. government. Since it was illegal to be a Super, my goal of becoming a prominent super heroine was made a moot point. Elastigirl then changed her feminist stance to a more traditionist one; becoming a housewife and devoting my effort to being a good Rotarian and Interact Advisor. However, I still use my superpowers occasionally in the Parr’s private residence to aid in housework and keeping up with my Interact Chair duties of running “DYNAMO DC”.

Some considered me to be one of the most powerful of the Supers. During my early career, I was known for working alone, something that led me to push away “Buddy Pine” and Elastigirl

--- later, I Married Her. Possessing powers of enhanced strength and durability, I pledge to support “Break Barriers / Build Bridges”.

VioletADVISOR | FELMER LENIDA

What is up Interact District 5170? I’m Felmer Lenida, one of the new adviser for Dynamo DC this year. Ever since my DC year with Dashing DC as Outreach Coordinator, it has been

one of my dreams to be back on DC to help advise Interact District 5170! Like Violet, I have invisibility powers. I actually used them to sneak back on to DC.. The other DC adviser and DC Members do not know yet. I’m pretty sure the rest of Interact D5170 has this power too, because you guys are unseen heroes/heroines of the world. All of you can, and will, make difference, even if no one notices. Interact D5170, are you guys ready for an awesome year?! I can’t wait to work with a lot of you! Peace, Love, Interact <3

FrozoneADVISOR | REBECCA BULDO

Who am I and Why Interact? My name is Rebecca Buldo, and I am one of your District Council Advisor’s for District 5170. Everyone’s “Why” is different. For me, it’s simple; to help others

in need with the hopes of changing their lives forever. As with my character, Frozone, he has the power to “freeze” water… I hope to help “freeze” people’s perception that it takes an entire village to make a difference. I say, it takes only one person to change someone’s life. Just one person to take the initiative and act upon their own kindness. I believe Interactors and Rotarians are individuals that are hungry to change the world and make a difference where they live. They are people who are willing to help those less fortunate and able to lead our community to greatness. What if everyone “froze” their minds and adopted the “it takes just one person to change someone’s life” attitude. How amazing would they be!

EverseerADVISOR | CHRIS MILLER

Hello! My name is Everseer, with a code name of Chris Miller. At one point in my life I was the leader of the Phantasmics. My superpowers include telepathy, clairvoyance, and magnoscopic vision, which means

I can see both microscopically and telescopically. This has served me well in life, as I have been able to see both the big picture and focus on details in my work as an educator/teacher and in youth ministry. Even through my OCD tendencies have sometimes gotten in the way, I am able to stay focused and keep my “eyes on the prize,” which is shown in my commitment to being a student. At 33 years old, I have been in school for 30 years, and am in my 15th year in college as I begin a doctoral program at the University of San Francisco. In fact, I am in class during NPM, which is why I can’t join you today :( Like Austin Powers, I speak in a British Accent, and as they say in Brittan, I hope you have a “dog’s bollocks of a day (translation: really fantastic)!

Oh, hi. I didn’t see you there… Let me take a break from all of the computer files that I am creating and tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Jeff Olevson. I have the pleasure of being one

of your Rotary Advisors this year. I am from the Sunnyvale Rotary Club and am also an advisor for the Interact Club at Homestead High School. When I am not messing around on the computer, I am studying accounting at Mission College and wish to become a CPA someday. I also am part of the National Stuttering Association (NSA). It is the largest self-help group in the country for people who stutter. I am a member of the San Jose Chapter of the NSA… Well, I gotta go, the computer is calling my name.

Hello darlings. Though I am Edna, you may also call me Tim and I am one of the advisers of Interact. I enjoy the arts with a passion and try to act as the role of an assistant to everyone in Interact. I try my best

to make sure that we (Interact) come out as bold, dramatic, and heroic through all of our amazing powers. Though I may not have any known superpowers myself, I hope to bring the best out of everyone and make their powers shine even brighter than they were before. Though I might keep myself with a busy schedule, I will always have time for my Interact family. I am so excited for everyone this year! Everyone I have met through Interact so far has been amazing and I hope to meet you all as time passes by! Feel free to come up and talk to me darlings! We are all a family and it is a bond that we should always cherish. I hope you all have fun and I wish everyone the best because you are all the best!

And that Service Above Self is the answer, because, Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of other, or strikes out against

injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope....and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current

What’s up Interactors!? My name is Ben “Bjay” Biscocho and I am one of the Advisors for District Council this year. Although I don’t have very much in common with Jack Jack - one thing I take from

him is that he cannot be under estimated. When I was an Interactor and a DC member 10 years ago, a lot of people didn’t think we could achieve the things we did because we were only high school students. Syndrome underestimated Jack Jack which lead to his untimely demise (that and his cape...eeps, say no to capes!) As Interactors seeking out to be positive change agents in the world, take it from Jack Jack and don’t let anyone underestimate who you are and your potential - be Incredible!
