Turning BlackBerry Service “On”
While at the home screen, choose the envelope icon (to bring up the "messaging" menu). Choose Options (using the button with the blue stripe) Choose Settings Choose E-mail, then BlackBerry. Change the option for BlackBerry service to
“On” by pressing the joystick Choose back and exit to homescreen
You should eventually see a new BlackBerry icon indicating that BlackBerry Connect is running on the device
FAQ:1) How does a Customer get BlackBerry Connect?
There are three ways for a Customer to obtain the BlackBerry Connect Client:a) from Carrier’s or Nokia/SonyE website for downloadb) on a CD in the boxc) pre-installed in the device extended ROM
There are two ways for a Customer to obtain the BlackBerry Connect Desktop software:a) from Carrier’s or Nokia/SonyE website for downloadb) on a CD in the box
2a) The device shows that BlackBerry Service is “Not Connected” and cannot be “Restarted”a) Confirm that the device is approved for BlackBerry Connectb) Confirm that the SIM provisioned with BlackBerry services by checking with your Carrierc) Turn the device off, remove the battery, re-insert the battery and turn the device on again; go to BlackBerry Settings and turn service off and back on
2b) The device shows that BlackBerry Service is “Suspended by user”a) This can occur if the user chooses to Suspend service or when the radio has suspended service because of another application (i.e. Internet Browser)b) Turn the device off, remove the battery, re-insert the battery and turn the device on again; go to BlackBerry Settings and turn service off and back on
FAQ: (cont.)3) I cannot send or receive email.
- Re-register device with BlackBerry network.- Confirm that BlackBerry service is Connected and the ‘BlackBerry Connect’ icon is on the Home screen- Check that there is a CMIME Service Book on the device- Ask your IT Admin whether there are any email server issues- Delete the CMIME Service Book* and re-provision you provisioned the device to your corporate BES account * Note: This will delete the
BlackBerry mailbox and all emails from the device
4) My calendar entries are not synchronized.- Confirm that BlackBerry service is Connected and the ‘BlackBerry Connect’ icon is on the Home screen
- Check that there is a CICAL Service Book on the device- Delete the CICAL Service Book*, re-provision the device against your corporate BES account and perform a Calendar Bulk-load- * Note: This will delete all BlackBerry calendar entries from the device.
5) Emails on my desktop are not deleted or synchronized with those on the handheld.- Go to BlackBerry Settings and check that
o wireless reconciliation is enabledo You have chosen to delete on – “Mailbox & Handheld”
