OverviewInterior Design Themes

ThroughconsultationwiththeJAG(JointArtsgroup),the theme ‘Connect’ was developed. The aim of this theme is to foster connections between the hospital and surroundingcommunities,landscapes,places,nature,etc.Aspartofthewayfindingcommission,eachstaircore has been allocated a theme and an appropriate colour has been selected to tie in with each theme.

Public Spaces | Colour Strategy

A confident and controlled palette of wall colour will beselected throughout thehospital tosupportasimple,warmand neutral base palette.

Whitewallswillbeusedthroughoutwithhighlightcolourstokey spaces. This will be enhanced and supported by the arts strategyandwayfinding.

Bold and saturated colour can be used in public areas while mutedcolourworkswellforprivateareasofthebuilding.

Colour application

• Art work can be a valuable ‘colour therapy tool’ representingasimpleyetpowerfulmeansofbringingcolour into a space.

• Bold, strong colours appear energising and excitingandshouldappearthroughoutthehospital.

• Scale of the colour should be controlled and be applied to selected feature walls or elements to reinforce way finding.

• Muted, tonal colour helps to calm and reassure so will be used in private areas close to the patient. In conjunction with this, splashes of more saturated colour will add interest but not overwhelm.

• Colours selected will be sophisticated and warm.
