The clubs split a four-game set in Des Moines in April. Iowa has taken four of seven games overall this season, and 16 of the last 24 meetings dating to the 2013 campaign. YESTERDAY’S NEWS – Josh Hamilton had a pair of RBI singles, Ryan Strausborger and Jared Hoying homered as Round Rock avoided a series sweep by defeating the Zephyrs, 5-1. Strausborger hit the third pitch of the game from Z’s starter Pat Misch over the left field wall, and finished the game 3x4. Hamilton, on a rehab assignment from the Rangers, singled home runs in the third and fifth innings before exiting the game, and Hoying took Travis Blackley deep in the sixth to complete the Express scoring. Misch lost his third straight start after yielding three runs on eight hits in 5.0 innings. Kila Ka’aihue's fourth-inning homer, his first as a Zephyr, provided the only Z's run. ON THE HILL – Kendry Flores makes his third Triple-A start since joining the Zephyrs from the Miami Marlins, where he made two scoreless relief appearances. The right-hander has thrown 5.0 innings in each of his first two starts with the Z's, both no-decisions, allowing no runs on June 16 at Round Rock and five runs on Saturday at Colorado Springs. Flores opened the year at AA Jacksonville, where he ranked fourth in the Southern League a 2.06 ERA (13 ER / 56.2 IP) at the time of his big league promotion. GETTIN' MIGGY WITH IT – Miguel Rojas is riding a nine-game hit streak, the third time this season he has hit in at least nine consecutive games. Over his most recent streak, Rojas is 15x39 (.385) with three doubles, three triples and eight runs scored. He had been 4x46 (.087) over his previous 10 contests. Rojas went 2x3 yesterday for his team-leading 20th multi-hit game of the year and fourth during his current streak. THE LONG BALL – The Zephyrs homered in each of the three games against Round Rock, only the second time this season the New Orleans has hit a home run in three consecutive games. The Z's homered in all four games in Memphis from May 8-11. The Zephyrs have hit 34 home runs on the year, second-fewest in the league to Nashville (30), and have not gone deep in their last 81 innings on the road, since Derek Dietrich in the fourth inning on June 4 at Tacoma. VINNY AND THE HITS – Vinny Rottino is hitting .381 (24x63) in June, the third-best average in the PCL this month, with two homers and 10 RBI. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 contests, batting .404 (21x52) in that span. In six games against Iowa this season, Rottino is 8x15 (.533) with five RBI and six walks for a .609 on-base percentage. A CALL TO ARMS – The Zephyrs continue to lead the PCL with a 3.27 team ERA and have yielded 44 home runs, tied with Colorado Springs for the fewest in the league. Zephyrs pitchers have registered 440 strikeouts in 627.1 innings, the fewest strikeouts in the PCL, but lead the league with eight shutouts. PINEAPPLE POWER – Kila Ka’aihue slugged his first homer for NOLA last night and has hit safely in five of six games since joining the club on June 18. It was Ka'aihue's 95th home run in the PCL over parts of seven seasons with Omaha, Sacramento, Reno and New Orleans and his 201st minor league home run in 13 seasons. IN THE NICK OF TIME – Nick Wittgren has allowed just one run in 10.0 innings in June and has posted a 1.80 ERA in 24 games for NOLA this season. Over his last 11 outings, Wittgren has yielded one run on nine hits in 14.0 innings (0.64 ERA). For the year, Wittgren has allowed only 27 baserunners in 30.0 innings, the best ratio (8.10 / 9.0 IP) among all PCL relievers and his .202 (22x109) batting average against ranks fourth. SIR ISAAC – Isaac Galloway has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, amassing a .340 average (17x50) over that span with two doubles, two triples, a home run and five RBI. Galloway’s six triples ranks second in the PCL behind Iowa’s Arismendy Alcantara (7). Combined with his one triple with AA Jacksonville earlier in the year, Galloway has set a new career high with seven triples this season. GETTING DEFENSIVE – The Zephyrs have a .985 fielding percentage to lead the PCL and have turned 85 double plays, second-most in the league behind Albuquerque (91). 2015 SEASON WITH JACKSONVILLE – Flores earned a promotion to Miami after going 3-3 with a 2.06 ERA in nine starts for the Suns, covering 56.2 innings. He held Chattanooga to just one hit over 8.0 scoreless innings on 5/4, but got a no-decision when the bullpen allowed two runs in the ninth. Flores defeated Mobile on 5/9, allowing just one run on five hits over 6.0 innings, and his in his final start for Jacksonville, he beat Birmingham by yielding two runs on four hits in 6.0 innings. He was called up to Miami on 6/2 for his MLB debut.

WITH MIAMI – In two relief appearances for the Marlins, Flores totaled 3.2 innings. On 6/6 at Colorado, Flores worked 2.1 innings, allowing three hits and one walk, but no runs. In his second appearance on 6/8 at Toronto, he went 1.1 innings, allowing only one hit and striking out one. He was optioned to New Orleans on 6/13. WITH NEW ORLEANS – Making his Triple-A debut, Flores held Round Rock scoreless through 5.0 innings, racking up six strikeouts and only yielding three hits and a walk. He threw 55 of 81 pitches for strikes and got four flyouts compared to three groundouts. The Zephyrs did not score in support of Flores and lost 1-0 in 13 innings. ROUGHED UP IN COLORADO – Flores struggled in his second start for the Zephyrs, allowing five runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings on 6/20 at Colorado Springs. He yielded all five runs in the fourth inning, in which the Sky Sox opened the frame with five straight hits.

2014 SEASON IN REVIEW WITH SAN JOSE – In 20 starts for Class-A Advanced San Jose, Flores went 4-6 with a 4.09 ERA. He covered 105.2 innings and allowed 113 hits and 11 home runs, while striking out 112 and walking 32. Of the 57 runs he allowed, only 48 were earned, and opposing batters hit just .249 against him. He was placed on the disabled list on 8/8 and came off on 9/15.

K MAN – In a losing effort on 6/22 at Visalia, Flores struck out a season-high 13 batters, but allowed two solo home runs to the Rawhide. Flores struck out nine on two occasions last year (4/15 vs. Inland Empire and 6/28 vs. Visalia) and led the Giants with 112 strikeouts.

FINISHING STRONG – Flores posted a 2-1 record with a 2.45 ERA over the season’s final three months, which included back-to-back starts in July in which he allowed just one earned run. On 7/11 at Stockton, Flores twirled 7.0 innings of two-hit ball with eight strikeouts, and on 7/18 vs. Rancho Cucamonga, he did not allow a run in 6.0 innings while striking out five to earn his fourth and final win of the year.
