NewOrleansOverviewforSENDNOLA RiverbendBaptistChurchisbeingplantedonthewestbankoftheMississippiwheretheriverbendsasNewOrleansandBelleChassemeet.Thisareahasapopulationofmorethan20,000peoplebutonlyabout500peopleattendchurchonanygivenSunday.

Thevisionistoseeamulticulturalcommunityofreproducingbelieversestablished.Thiscommunitywillreachoutandengagethecitywiththegospelthroughavarietyofentrypoints.Oneofthepointswearemostexcitedaboutisacommunityfineartsacademythatweseektoestablish.ThisacademywillprovidefineartseducationthatiscenteredonaChristianworldviewandcreatesaplatformforcommunityengagement.

AbouttheAndersonFamily GerryandEmilyAndersonhavebeenmarriedformorethan13years.Theyhavethreechildren,Austin(13),Autumn(11)andCatherine(7).

Duringthepast13yearsofmarriage,theyhavebeenblessedtoservethechurchinvariousministryroles.TheyhavespentthepastfiveyearsservingasseniorpastorofHarvestBaptistChurchinDyersburg,Tennessee.

Itisinterestingtomehowateammemberwilllovealloverchildrenandadultsfromanothercultureandthentreattheirroommatefortheirtriplikethatweregarbage.Manyforgetthatministryisnottoaselectgroupofpeopleforaparticulartime,buttoallpeopleatalltimes,eventhosethatyouservewithandworshipwith.Nowswouldbequicktosaythatthisisayouthteamproblem,theywouldbewrong,itisapeopleproblem.IcannottellyouhowmanymembersthatIhadtoseparateinvehiclesorinhotelroomsbecausetheywouldnotserveonanother.Oh,theycouldlovethosetheycame“toserve,”butnotthosethatthey“servewith.”Perhapstherinliestheproblem.Theycametoserve”butonlythosetheywantedto.Teamleaderscanfallintothistrapalso.Itdoesn’ttakemuchtogetcaughtinthistrap,especiallywhenyouaredealingwithapersonthatjustseemstoalwaysbelate,orapersonwhocomplainsabouteverything,orapersonwhocan’tseemtofindanythinggoodtosay,andwell,yougettheidea.Thelistgoesonandon.Ifaleaderdoesnotguardhisheart,thatleaderwillendupservingthosethatareeasytoserve.Wearenotcalledtoservejust“theeasy”butall,andevenmoreso“oneanother.”Whowillbethegreatestamongyou?Willitbeyou?MythoughtsfromGod’sWord&Devotiontoday:
