Day 1: We fly from New England to New Orleans where the fun begins. On arrival in New Orleans you will be transferred to your hotel the Sheraton Four Points. On the way to the hotel your guide will provide an orientation tour to help you become acquainted with the hotel and what is nearby. This afternoon visit the Katrina Exhibit, and the Mardi Gras Museum. The Katrina exhibit tells the story of survival and courage of the people who went through the storm that changed New Orleans. On the second floor enjoy the costumes, the history and the trinkets of past Mardi Gras Seasons. This evening enjoy dinner in the French Quarter of New Orleans followed by time to enjoy the music and activity on Bourbon St. You might want visit to Pat O’Brien’s known for its piano bar and Hurricanes (if you don’t want to take the souvenir glass home be sure to let your server know so you are not charged) Dinner Day 2: Breakfast will be included at a nearby restaurant. After breakfast your local guide will take you on a tour to see the highlights of New Orleans City tour. On the city tour you will see the Garden District, the Parks, cemeteries, landmarks from movies, the Super Dome and so much more. WW11 Museum with three D movie. After the show you will have some time to enjoy yourself or shop in the French quarter. Your tour director will have lots of suggestions as to where to eat close to the hotel or in the French Quarter. Your tour director will track the parade and give you a time when the parades will get to the hotel. Breakfast Day 3: Depart for a breakfast of beignets, coffee, orange juice, hot chocolate at Café du Monde. Next it is on to the New Orleans School of Cooking where you will assist in the preparation of your lunch. There will be plenty of time to shop for products either before or after the class. After the Cooking School this is a perfect time to take a horse drawn carriage ride or a bike taxi tour of the French quarter. Your tour director will make reservations for dinner for those that wish to join. Breakfast Day 4: Breakfast his morning will be at the hotel. On our way to Houma we will stop to visit Laura Plantation a Creole Plantation, the tour will take you through the home and allow you to experience other houses on property. This unique plantation will give you a perspective as to what plantation life was like for both masters and slaves. A visit to Laura Plantation is sure to change your perspective on plantation life. We will continue on to Houma for a taste of Cajun Culture. Visit the Water Life Museum and view interacting exhibits dealing with seafood and oil industries. Enjoy a welcome reception at the CVB before checking into hotel, Our hotel for the next two nights will be the Holiday Inn Houma. Tonight enjoy a New Orleans Crawfish boil Breakfast & Dinner Day 5: After breakfast we begin a driving tour of Cajun Bayou Communities where you meet some of the locals and see how they live. After a break for lunch take a swamp boat tour into the deepest swamps of Louisiana. Enjoy viewing animals, waterfowl, reptiles, lots of Cypress trees and other vegetation. Hear the local Captain tell the story of the swamps. On the way back to the hotel we will stop at a Daiquiri Shop and purchase drive through cocktails. Tonight enjoy a meal you would be served on a working plantation prepared by the owner at Twelve Oaks Plantation. Dinner. Day 6 Before departing Houma visit a working alligator farm and hear how eggs are gathered and how the alligators are raised until they are sent to market Visit a Mardi Gras store and see how and where the float riders buy their throws. Breakfast.
