New Online Registration Program Columbus Parks and Recreation has a new

online registration program called CivicRec.

Since this is a new program, you will need to

create a new household account. Please go to

https://bit.ly/3zNyjj4. Once you are at the

home screen, press “Login/Create Account” in the left hand side of the screen. If you prefer to

call in, mail-in, or stop-in to register, we still ask for you to first visit https://bit.ly/3zNyjj4 to

create your household account first. This will help streamline the registration process. Please

Fall is HERE!! Fall is just around the corner and I cannot wait to see the fall colors, cooler weather and all the fun we

to be had here in Columbus. Last summer was very busy with fitness, tennis, Frankfort Square events

and many tournaments that came to Columbus. Let’s keep the momentum through cooler months and

get excited to be benchmarking our first year of having a Parks and Recreation

The Parks Board meets on the first Tuesday

of each month. Meetings are held at the

City Hall Chambers beginning at noon.

Public are encouraged to attend with their

concerns and suggestions to enhance the

parks experience.

Adult Kickball League

September 12-October 31st Registration Deadline: September 1st

This league will be held at Centennial Park on Sunday afternoons starting at 2pm. League is dependent on registrations. Min number of participants is 10 with a max of 12. Rules can be found by visiting https://www.columbusne.us/571/Parks-Recreation. Each team will have 2 participants each week umpire the game be-fore theirs.

Cost: $275/Team

Halloween Lights Contest Entries due by October 16th Facebook Judging October 19-31st Show off your Halloween decorating skills an compete to win $50 Columbus Bucks. Must be within city limits. Registration forms are due by October 16.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving/Painting Contest

Frankfort Square October 16th @ 2pm Bring your Pumpkin (painted or carved) to Frankfort Square on October 16th to be judged in our first ever Halloween Pumpkin Contest. Categories will be:

Scariest Pumpkin

Silliest Pumpkin

Most Creative

Best Overall Painted Pumpkin

Best Overall Carved Pumpkin

Judges will be local of the Columbus area. . Winners will get $10 Columbus Bucks and a Medal!

Snow Sculpture Contest Entries submitted between first snow and the end of March. The Columbus Parks and Recreation is looking for the best snow - people, snow - pets or snow sculptures in all of Columbus! To enter take a photo of your snow-creation and email it [email protected]. Include the name of participants, address, and phone number. Prizes given for:

Candy Cane Hide and Seek

December 11th: Glur Park 2pm Start: FREE December 18th: Centennial Park 2pm Start: FREE

Did you hear? Santa is sending some of his happy elves to Glur Park on December 11th and

Centennial Park on December 18th to leave candy canes around for all the good little boys and girls! Parents remember the magic of Christmas - so no early peeking! Be sure to come at 2pm as the hunt starts at that time. Please bring your own bag to

put your candy canes in. Candy canes are limited!

Holiday Light Contest Photo Entries due by December 10th Video Entries due by December 11th Facebook Judging December 14-21st

Show off your holiday spirit with a light decorating contest! Contestants will be competing for $50 Columbus bucks. Contestants must be within city limits. Register online or download a form off our website and drop it in our drop box at City Hall. All registration entries due by December 10th.

Did you know? Pawnee Park is located in southwest Columbus, just south of the viaduct on either side of highway 81 and 30. Pawnee Park is known as “The Picnic Capital of Nebraska,” and first opened in 1925. Pawnee Park encompasses almost 153 acres adjoining the Loup River and Van Berg golf course. Pawnee Park is home to the American Legion and Columbus High School Baseball. It is also home to Columbus High School and Scotus Central Catholic football, track and tennis!
