VISION

Our vision is to leave a sustainable world for future generations. We want people to live in a

clean, diverse and safe environment that welcome everyone.

MISSION

Our mission is to transform Kajang becomes a sustainable city in energy efficiency, industrial

productivity, affordable and personalized healthcare and also intelligent infrastructure solutions.

We will transform the town centre of Kajang to be a self reliance town.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

To transform Kajang become self reliance town, the urban renewal or regeneration aiming at

revitalization of the urban environment has been adopted. But the important thing must to realize

that renewal also had both success and failures. Urban renewal has been seen by proponents as

an economic engine and a reform mechanism and by critics as a mechanism for control. It mayenhance existing communities and in some cases result in the demolition of neighborhoods.

There have several issues in Kajang. There are pollution, traffic congestion and non-

friendly environment. So, we want to propose the solutions for the problem of transportation,

power energy supply, water supply and waste management.

2.0 TRANSPORTATION

To be a self reliance city, Kajang must have good and efficient public transport systems. This is

probably the biggest challenge for the city because every day about 100,000 cars come and out

into Kajang. Reducing the number of cars will ease congestion. So, the long-term plan is toencourage people to park their cars at the nearest public transport station, such as an LRT station

and take the train to the city.

Then, we also plan to improve the existing public transport system in Kajang as example

the time travel of bus and LRT. We would like to encourage the residents use public transport or

cycling at Kajang, so it can reduce the traffic congestion in Kajang. Other than that, to prevent

the traffic congestion in Kajang, we have planned to provide the exclusive lanes for public

transport which the buses or taxi will be separate with private cars. Then, we will give the better

information for all transport users, be they pedestrians in public or private transportation, to

allow them to make the better judgments. Traffic flows can be smoothed and so congestionremoved with better information.

An example is on public transport systems that flow in sequence such as LRT. The trains

may usually frequent but due to some delay have started to bunch together. The next train to

arrive will get slower and slower as more people who have waited longer than usual pile on.

Whereas the train after is catching up with fewer passengers to pick up. Knowing that the nexttrain is chockfull and the one after it is close behind but almost empty would allow passengers to

wait for the latter, thus smoothing out the congestion.

3.0 ENVIRONMENT

In keeping the city is in good and safe environment, we need to make sure the rate of water

pollution and air pollution is in low rate. Towards sustainability city, we proposed many ways to

provide a good environment to all citizens in Kajang city therefore they have good health

lifestyles. Besides that, they can promote about the city to attract others to come Kajang city.

Originally Kajang city has many developments in commercials, industrials, transportation

and others. Even though development of city can increase the economy and bring many benefits

to us in facilities way but if we ignore about negative affects it will bring result on our health. Its

not a good city if developments very increase rapidly but the number of citizens dead also

increases. We have to make sure the two things in develop our city is in balance which are

development and environment.

3.1 Air Pollution

Air pollution is very high especially in industrial zones. It is because mostly operations in

factories will release black thick gases that result on air pollution. Besides from factories, the air

pollution is give impact from all vehicles and power supply plant. Even though it only small rate

of air pollution but if we did not take any action in reducing it, it will become higher.

In increasing of commercial and industry area, this shown that all citizens have work and

usually from each house they drive themselves to work. They rather use own vehicles even

though the public transportation like buses and train commuter. This situation can result on air

pollution because of releasing carbon monoxide from the vehicles. Carbon monoxide will release

to air then effect to humans health and atmosphere layer will be thinner.

From the industrial development also they have release many gases that will penetrate

into atmosphere layer. In operating of their business, they use the machine to operate it and lastly

they release black thick gases from their factories. The gases can be reuse by human or animal,

thus it will only release to air and effect the atmosphere same with carbon monoxide gas from

vehicles.

To get energy supply, we have proposed with two types of power plan which are waste to energy

plant and oil power plant. Both power plants supply energy around 7 000 Mwah/month. Waste to

energy plant is useful in using garbage as waste to produce energy since located beside landfill

unfortunately it also produce heavy pollution to environment. Also same with oil power plant

that give more impact to air pollution. Same like

vehicles this plant also need to burn oil and release

gases not suitable for atmosphere.

In reducing air pollution we proposed with construction of subway underground. Subway

train is more comfortable than train commuter which located underground that distance from

roadway. It also save space for construction of subway rail, did not disturb with upper ground

where can construct other buildings or road. With this new rail station, people start by usingpublic transportation that own vehicles.

In area of industry, we proposed with plant trees and parks at center of industry area. We

plant trees along the roadway of factories and at center of factories. This can reduce air pollution

surrounding the area. Besides that, we apply with a few ordinances that all factoriesis

compulsory to follow it in reducing air pollution in their area.

Since the demand for power supply is increasing every year, we proposed with two

power plant that use renewable source where did not produce pollution. It was very clean plants

which are solar power plant and hydrogen power plant. Both power plants are produce 10 000

Mwah/month. With both plants, it can produce more supply energy and didnt release unsuitable

gases for human health.

3.2 Water Pollution

Water pollution comes from rubbish cause from peoples and factory of industry. They didnt

take seriously on environment of river and waste make by them. From such behavior, it can

cause water pollution in the city. Unlike air pollution, theres not much problem compare with

water pollution but we need to prevent it from increase as effect to river existing and our water

supply.

If too much water pollution, that area will experience no water since the water pump will

be shut down. Therefore, the water pump and water tower are located far from the source of

water pollution. In reducing the pollution, we proposed with built two water treatment plant near

around industrial area where that place is produce more waste than other areas.

4.0 HEALTH

Healthcare is important in one area especially when people start moving and live there. Beside

fire station is must located in industry area; any medical clinic is needed to be in the area. The

existing hospital and medical centre is located at the center of city where easier for people to go

and find them. One is government hospital and the other one is private medical. Therefore easier

for people in city if there are emergency case and unfortunately government hospital is full at

that time, they can go to private medical to get the treatment.

In each area, we have located with medical clinic at each residential area and industry area.

Therefore they dont need to go city center to get treatment exclude with big cases. If their house

is far away from center of city, they dont need to worry since there have medical clinic just

beside their house.

5.0 EDUCATIONAL ELEMENTS

Educational facilities are very crucial in our life. In order to higher the EQ among Kajangs

residents, enough educational facility need to be provided in Kajang area especially near to

residential area. Due to the population in Kajang is higher, then a lot of educational building

provided to cope with the necessity of the residents. There are some educational building

included the existing school in Kajang, such as:

a. SMJK Yu Hua (existing building)

b. City College (existing building)

c. Kolej New Era (existing building)

d. Private School

6.0 SAFETY

6.1 Fire Hazard

To make sure the safety in Kajangs area, some fire station is provided near to every area;

residential, commercial and industrial area. To cope with the requirement of Kajangs residents,there are two types of fire station were provided:

a. Large fire station (BalaiBombaKajang)

b. Small fire stations

The yellow area means that the level of secure for fire hazard is in moderate level. The orange

colour area is lower than moderate level. This is due to the industrial area that need more secure

in fire hazard because the probability for fire starts is high.

6.2 Crime

Same goes to safety from crime, police stations were situated mostly in area of residential and

commercial. This is due to the possibility for crime occurring is higher. The level of secure incrime is in moderate level due to yellow colour overall. Two types of police station are:

a. Large police station (BalaiPolis BesarKajang)

b. Small police stations

7.0 GREEN ELEMENTS

There are several elements of green element were plan in redevelopment of Kajang. We wish to

have a park, farm and plantation in every area that no used for other development. We plan for

every building should have at least an area for any seeding and plantation.

8.0 CONCLUSION

As the conclusion, by paying greater attention to the built environment including homes, school,parks, transportation and community design, it can reduce instances of chronic disease such as

diabetes and asthma. To achieve the our vision and mission to transform Kajang becomes a

sustainable city in energy efficiency, industrial productivity, affordable and personalized

healthcare and also intelligent infrastructure solutions, all the parties should work together and

have the self awareness of their ownself.
