John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England in 1940. He lived with his aunt and uncle and went to school in

Liverpool. Lennon was good at art, and after school he went to the Liverpool College of Art. But he didnt finish

college; he became interested in music. Lennon met Paul McCartney in 1957 and they formed The Beatles in

1960. The Beatles became a big success, and John was rich. He got married twice: first to Cynthia Powell in

1962 and then to the Japanese artist, Yoko Ono in 1969. He had two sons, Julian and Sean. After Sean was

born, Lennon decided to stop work and stay at home for four years. He died in New York in 1980.

Chapter Seven

Lia and Jay are carrying the bucket. It is heavy. There are lots of oranges in the bucket. The gold coins are under the oranges.

Jay and Lia meet a gang of boys near the bridge. Whats in your bucket? the boys shout.

Boys: Ah, oranges! Give them to us!

The small, red dog runs out of the house. He barks at the gang of boys. He barks and he barks.

The friendly woman comes out of the house. The boys run away.

Jay and Lia are at the checkpoint. The soldier looks in the bucket.

Soldier: You dont have any magic water.

Jay: No. We have some magic oranges!

Lia and Jay give the soldier some oranges. The soldier smiles at them.
