No. 1 New Headquarters for the International Society for Artificial Organs The headquarters of the Society and the editorial office of Artificial Organs has been moved to the White Mansion, a charming and spacious old house which was once the home of a well known Cleveland industrialist and his family. There is now sufficient space to start col- lecting archives and other material such as early prototypes of artificial organs, archival material, exhibits of models and related equipment, current research papers and publications, etc. Please see page A6for a n Appeal for Materials and information on how to donate. New additions to the Center’s staff are Scott M. Peters, M.A., Curator, and Mrs. Carolyn Ritley, Receptionist/Secretary. For the list of Center Trust- ees, Officers, Members of the Steering Committee and the International Scientific Council, please refer to the November 1979 issue of Artificial Organs, page 327. Some offers of donations of historically signifi- cant material have already been received. Arrange- ments will shortly be made for their acquisition and transport to the Center. Negotiations are in progress for housing the Travenol historical collection of arti- ficial kidneys in the Center. When the first exhibits have been installed, an official opening ceremony is planned and it is hoped that this will take place sometime later this Spring. This method of duplicating mate- rial protected by copyright will avoid copyright infringement concerns on the part of anyone needing extra copies of pertinent articles. IFACIISAO Symposium The IFAC/ISAO Symposium on Control Aspects

of Artificial Organs will take place on September 24-26, 1980, i n Warsaw, Poland. Organized by the

Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engi- neering of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Sym- posium will include papers on artificial heart and circulatory assist; artificial lung; artificial eye and ear; artificial /3 cell; hemodialysis and hemofiltra- tion; sorbents; peritoneal dialysis; hepatic assist; homeostasis; and drug infusion.
