+ Study Conducted by Interisle Published on 5

August

+ ICANN Paper based on the Study finding

proposes way forward:

– Classify strings into 3 profiles

– 80% of strings classified as low risk

– 20% of strings (279) require further study

– 2 strings (.corp & .home) classified as high risk, high

impact

Name Collisions Impact in the DNS

6

+ All applicants are encouraged to review the

announcement

– Low Impact Category (80%) can proceed to delegation

with minimal new requirements and changes to

delegation timeline

– Unclassified Impact Category (20%) require further

study to determine potential risk levels & appropriate

mitigation steps.

+ We anticipate 3-6 months for conclusion

+ High Risk Category (.corp & .home) require significant

mitigation

may change depending upon community feedback received during the public comment period on the recommended mitigation measures,

and any subsequent actions taken by the New gTLD Program Committee of the ICANN Board, among other things.
