New features of Chamber Monitor Panel E. Furfaro 9 april 2012 Since the chamber monitor works with datapoint, it is important that only one is open at the same time. In order to avoid any overlap in using the monitor I added a new feature: if the monitor is already open the button CHAMBER MONITOR will turn in gray with the text Monitor is already open. If you need to use the monitor but another user is using it or someone left it open on another pc, you can force closing by right mouse click on the top left of the button. By pushing this Force closing button you will start the monitor closing procedure that will close the monitor in 10 seconds. Once the monitor will be closed, the button turns again into black and you can open the monitor. On the main panel will appear a message that allows, wtihin 10 seconds, the user to keep the monitor open. If something stucks in a open monitor and it becomes impossible to close it, you can reset the datapoint that controls the closing procedure: you have to right mouse click on the rigth bottom side of this panel and than to push the button that will appear. During initialization the monitor is frozen and no action is possbile. Only the state of the two sides of the station is displayed. New chamber selection feature added Side selection added Quadrant selection per region added Selection buttons, but SELECT ALL REGIONS and DESELECT ALL ones, are modified: if an area corresping to a specific button is totally unselected or only partially selected, the whole area will be selected by pressing the related button. Otherwise, if an area is fully selected it will be totally deselected by pressing the related button again (without pushing the DESELECT ALL" button). Added a new tool that allows the user to set the threshold for one or more noisy chambers automatically. When a chamber has one or more noisy channels we can activate the fix tool and set the rate limit (in Hz) we decided to be good for a specific condition. The tool automatically counts the noise and increases the threshold by the numbers of register units put in the text box till the noise disappears. We can turn on the autoset threshold tool only if at least one chamber is selected: from now on all threshold modifications will be related to values read right after we have push the button. After we selected the rate limit and the increment units we can start the fix by pushing the star fix button. The tool counts the noise, than increases the threshold in the front end board and counts again: if one or more channels count more than the rate limit, we have to repeat the fix. Otherwise the channels are considered not fixed. The color list is now modified: -Green means that all channels of a chamber are under the rate limit -Orange that at least one channel is over the limit -Gray that at least one feb is excluded from count (as usal) All the informations about the count results are displayed on the chamber tooltip. MUDAQC45:MUONC_DAQ_M5C_R4_CMB32DFEB0015ThresholdSet 93FIXED TEST_fix_ dat G:\muon\pvss\MuonComponents\DetectorReadoutExtra\thr_fix_results After you have fixed the chambers you can save the new settings on a file by right click on the fix button. In the file will be saved only the channels with different values of threshold compared with values before tool fix started. The file will be saved in this path: and the name will be like: where the last part is the date time of the system in that moment. Any row represents a single channel: I decided to maintain the same structure used for anomaluos channel file: the 1 st column is the chamber name, the 2 nd is the FEB, the 3 rd is the channel, the 4 th and the 5 th the new threshold value and the 6 th tell us if the channel was fixed or not. A new feature allows us to run automatically the noise check: the count will go ahead by itself without stop. On the right bottom of the monitor there is the mode selection button to switch from manual (default) and automatic noise check. For the moment this tool concerns only a few number of chambers and it is under test.
