Question: What does ‘research experience’ mean?
Time you have spent conducting research in afull-time position after completion of youruniversity degree that entitles you to read for aPhD. In most countries this is the Masterdegree. However, depending on country thismay also be a Bachelor degree. You must beable to document that the work you havecarried out was research, for example,employment contract, lab results, researchoutput.

What type of host institution can you chose?
MSCA Fellows can be hosted by public or private sector research actors
- universities- research institutes- private companies

another organisation (ideally in another sector)in Europe.

Q: Is this fellowship only for ASEAN nationals or resident scientists in ASEAN region?This fellowship is open to applicants of all nationalities.
Q: Is there a bond for this scholarshipThe European Fellowship does not entail a bond.
Q: Hello. I will be granted my degree but the end of this year. Is it possible to apply for the current call?To be eligible you must have obtained your PhD by the time of the application deadline which is 9 September 2020.
Q: I already applied once to a MSCA-IF unsuccessfully in 2016. Can I apply again? Do I need to change the host institution and topic of my proposal?Yes, you can reapply with the same topic and the same host.
Q: Are people who have been previously granted EU scholarships still eligible to apply for this fellowship? I was am ERASMUS MUNDUS scholar during my undergraduate studies.Yes, they are eligible.
Q: Is there a fixed number of available grant per panel? No.
Is it possible to submit more than one proposal?No, you can submit only 1 proposal per call.
Can we send applications to 2 different areas of research, say the project overlaps with the 2 areas?No, you can submit only 1 proposal to be evaluated in 1 panel.
Do non-married partners qualify for family allowance?Family is defined as persons linked to you by (i) marriage, or (ii) a relationship with equivalent status to a marriage recognized by the legislation of the country or region where this relationship was formalized.
Does the mobility rule also apply for those who want to apply under the reintegration panel? I am an EU citizen who has done a PhD in the Netherlands and am now a postdoc in Singapore. Would it be possible for me to apply to go to an institute in the Netherlands?A modified mobility rule applies to the Reintegration Panel: Researchers must not have resided in or carried out their main activity (work, studies) in their host organization's country for more than 3 years in the 5 years immediately before the call deadline (10 September 2020)
Q: If I fail this round, can I try again for the next round?Yes.
Q: How can institutions in the US could be included in the proposal?They cannot be included.
Q: How many Fellowships are awarded for 2020?App 1200 European MSCA IF Fellowships will be awarded.

Q: Does it hurt/help the application if you state you intend to stay in the EU/UK (e.g. apply for ERC grant) after the end of MSCA?It will be beneficial to explain your planned career trajectory to the evaluator which may include a long-term career in Europe.
Q: Does the funding for the project depend on the existing grant funds from the institution? No. The funds will be provided by the EC to the hosting institution.
Q: What are the benefits for the host organization?Working with a highly talented individual researcher who comes with his/her own funds.
Q: Does the secondment need to be in Europe?Yes. It is possible to do secondments within the same country or into another European country (MS or AS). The secondment should significantly add to the career development of the fellow and to the (scientific) impact of the fellowship.
