Limitations:(1) The typical maximum depth of Commercial

Topping is 3" (76 mm). For depths greater than3" (76 mm), contact an authorized applicator.

(2) Commercial Topping may be scheduled before orafter installation of drywall.

(3) All materials above crawl spaces must be protected by a vapor barrier.

(4) During construction, place temporary wood plank-ing over the underlayment wherever it will be sub-jected to heavy wheeled or concentrated loads.

(5) Commercial Topping is not designed to beinstalled on or below grade, except over well-drained structural substrates.

(6) The structural floor should be adequate to with-stand design loads with deflection limitations of L/360.

(7) Commercial Topping should not be used for exte-rior application, or where it will come in prolongedcontact with water.

(8) Commercial Topping should not be directlyapplied to a plastic vapor barrier.

(9) Concrete moisture or vapor emission must beeliminated by others prior to a Maxxon underlay-ment application for below grade, on grade or sus-pended slabs.

*Drying Condtions: Maxxon gypsum underlaymentsare inorganic and provide no source of nutrients to sustainmold growth. Prolonged contact of moisture with otherconstruction materials, however, can result in mold growth. To avoid growth of mold on construction materials such aswallboard, drywall compound and even dust, it is vital tomaintain a low relative humidity both before and afterplacement of Maxxon gypsum underlayments.

The general contractor must provide and maintain cor-rect environmental conditions to keep the building cleanand dry, and protect against infestation of moisture from avariety of potential sources. Moisture can be introduced byother trades through spillage, tracked in mud and rain, plumbing leaks, etc. Often stored in damp conditions, building products may arrive on site laden with moisturethat releases after installation. Outside sources such asrain, snow, wind, etc. can also increase moisture levels.

Controlling moisture levels in the building, throughappropriate trade sequencing and prevention of potentialdamage by other trades, is the responsibility of the generalcontractor. The general contractor must supply mechanicalventilation and heat if necessary. These controls fall underthe scope of work of the general contractor — not MaxxonCorporation or the Maxxon gypsum underlayment installer.

Testing: Compressive strength testing must be per-formed in accordance with modified ASTM C472-79.Before independent sampling, contact the Maxxon QualityAssurance Department to ensure that proper proceduresare followed.

Warranty: Maxxon Corporation warrants CommercialTopping Floor Underlayment to be free from manufacturingdefects as defined in this warranty. Manufacturing defectsare considered to be those defects that occur due to thequality of the Commercial Topping ingredients or from themanufacturing process itself. This warranty does notinclude labor costs and other costs or expenses associat-ed with the removal or installation of Commercial Topping.

Because the Maxxon Corporation does not perform theactual Commercial Topping installation, it cannot be heldresponsible for the results of the application. MaxxonCorporation specifically disclaims problems that occur dueto weather conditions, structural movement, structuraldesign flaws and application techniques.

This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressedor implied including the warranty of merchantability and fit-ness of purpose and of all other obligations or liabilities onMaxxon Corporation’s part. Maxxon Corporation neitherassumes nor authorizes any person to assume for MaxxonCorporation any liability in connection with the sale andinstallation of Commercial Topping Floor Underlayment.

Why Commercial Topping Improves any Commercial Project...• Meets ASTM F10, Preparing Concrete to Receive Resilient Flooring• Pours over VAT, VCT, terrazzo or ceramic, with no shotblasting• Can be poured over concrete, precast, wood frame, and old cracked lightweight concrete

Preparation:Building interior should be enclosed and maintained ata temperature above 50 °F (10 °C) until structure andsubfloor temperatures are stabilized. The subfloormust be broom clean and contaminant free. Beforepouring Commercial Topping, the subfloor is coated with a company-approved primer.

Installation Methods:The minimum thickness of Commercial Topping varieswith the type of floor system. Commercial Toppingcan be featheredged over concrete substrates. Overwood frame construction, the minimum thickness is3/4" (19 mm). Over galvanized corrugated steel deckit is poured 1" (25 mm) over the top of the flutings, with an average pour thickness of 19⁄16" (40 mm). It canbe poured before or after drywall.

Continuous ventilation and adequate heat shouldbe provided to rapidly remove moisture from the areauntil the underlayment is dry. The general contractormust supply mechanical ventilation and heat if neces-sary*. Under the above conditions, drying time is usually 5–7 days.

Commercial Topping requires a floor covering.Contact your authorized dealer for recommendationsfor adhering floor goods. Or call or write for a copy of the Maxxon brochure Procedures for AttachingFinished Floor Goods to Maxxon Underlayments. It is the responsibility of the floor goods installer todetermine the compatibility of their product with a particular floor underlayment.
