Thursday November 21st ADHD and Learning
An evening presentation geared to educators featuring Dr. Margaret Weiss and Dr. Candice
Murray, with presentations on the impact of ADHD and learning, ADHD and executive
functioning, followed by workshops for elementary and high school/postsecondary strategies
Friday November 22nd Adult ADHD for Allied health and Human Resources
A full day of presentations and workshops covering what Health Care & Human resource professionals need to know about ADHD, treatments, alternative Treatments, accommodations and strategies to Improve Functioning at Work and at Home Saturday November the 23rd What parent’s Need to Know About ADHD
A full day of presentations geared to parents of children and adolescents who have ADHD.
Presentations on understanding ADHD as a neurological disorder, how to know if your child
really has ADHD, and possible treatments both mainstream and alternative, occurred during
the day. Parents were also able to choose to attend a workshop on parenting tips and
strategies for either the child or adolescent.
Sunday November 24th ADHD for Adults and Their Families
This full day of presentations focused on ADHD adult. Presentations covered, understanding
ADHD as an adult disorder, what medication treatment can and cannot do, CBT and
psychosocial treatments, alternative treatment s. The day concluded with a presentation about
organizational strategies and the benefits of an adult ADHD coach.

This white paper was completed in May of 2013 with corresponding cover letters
targeting several ministries and legislative bodies. It was sent out to all provincial, and
federal legislative representations across Canada and to provincial and federal ministries
of Health, Education, Child and family, Social Services, Labour and Justice.

Collection of over 60 signatures of medical professional supporting the white paper
Durham District School Board
Board wide Awareness Week promoted with posters distributed to all schools
Full day educational event on awareness and understanding of ADHD
o Two educational sessions (morning and afternoon) for student and teacher
representatives (35 schools represented in the am and 42 schools in the pm),
with 2 adults and 3 students from each school attending
o Students attended 2 presentations, one by Rick Green and one by Heidi
Bernhardt
o Adults attending a session presented by dr. Rosemary Tannock on ADHD and
Learning
o Evening presentation open to the entire community presented by Dr. Rosemary
Tannock (audience of approximately 200)
o Students and teachers were asked to develop a plan on how share the
information they learned back at their schools
o ADHD Support Network Durham was formed out of this event with a Facebook
page (First meeting to occur December 9th)
Scholar’s Choice Webinar October 17th 8:30 pm
Heidi Bernhardt presented “ADHD 101” to over 1,000 people through an educational
portal run by Scholar’s choice
Part 2, “ADHD More Than Inattention” was presented to over 700 people on November
the 14th
