Countdown is on to Holiday Parking!
Changes are coming to downtown parking operations this holiday shopping season. Circle Sunday, December 1 on your calendar, it is the first day of one month of free parking!
Your BDBA, in partnership with
The City of Burlington are supporting
a number of changes to downtown
parking this season and into 2014.
For the entire month of December there
is no charge for parking at all municipal
surface lots, on-street parking spaces
and the 414 parking garage.
These changes are aimed at making
our business community even more
competitive during the holiday
shopping and dining season. They are
financed by a new rate schedule to be
introduced in 2014 and the Defined
Parking Area levy.
Here is what you need to know to make
FREE December parking a success:
- All business owners and employees are encouraged to park off street, at the 414 garage or long-term parking lots
- The 2 hour parking limit still in effect (tickets will be issued for on-street parking over two hours in same location)
- Remember: free parking on street does not include designated handicapped spaces or Commercial Vehicle Loading Zones
A marketing campaign is already
underway featuring bus signage, a
radio and print campaign and blitz at
the Appleby GO Station. Promotional
material will be forthcoming for
display in your business and online
communications to your customers.

What:Shop The Neighbourhood is a campaign
that encourages people to make their
purchases at small businesses in their
communities, helping create healthy,
thriving neighbourhoods.
Where:Shop The Neighbourhood is complemented
by a six-week multimedia advertising
campaign prior to event day which
is designed to drive traffic to your
merchants in all neighbourhoods that are
part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
When:Launching October 21, 2013, the campaign
will culminate in a Shop The Neighbourhood
Day on Saturday November 30, 2013.
Why:Yellow Pages and OBIAA are awarding
$10,000 beautification prizes to the three
BIAs that have the most participation
and run the most spirited campaigns.
Shop The Neighbourhood is not just
a Retail promotion — it is an initiative
to remind people that Burlington
Downtown is a vibrant neighbourhood
with amazing small businesses.

emails and tweets. It’s really simple!
Join us as the Downtown lights up for the holidays with our annual carolling event!
Santa will be on hand at 5:30 pm
for visits and photos, and The Works
Gourmet Burger Bistro will be serving
up fresh Festive Burgers! Carolling
kicks off at 6:30 pm. Participants will
be given candles and Carolling Books
and will be led by candlelight & music
through the streets making carolling
stops at the Village Square, Burlington
Performing Arts Centre and back to
Civic Square.
There are still sponsorship opportunities
available at the Proud Sponsor, Candle
Sponsor and Carolling Book Sponsor levels.
