Industrial Visit to BRAND'S SUNTORY Sdn Bhd
The purpose of the trip was for the Year 2 Semester 4 Chemical Engineering (CE) students to experience and learn about the health supplement industry, particularly Brand’s Essence of Chicken. The visit covered a briefing on the history of Brand’s, its company profile, scientific findings, and manufacturing process. Students were able to observe the production plant from the top–down viewing deck made of glass panels. They also received a brief introduction on the manufacturing processes and practices in the plant from Ms. Jessly, a skilled staff member of the company. Overall, the visit provided the CE students with valuable exposure to the industry.

Industrial Visit to The Italian Baker Sdn Bhd
The visitation was aimed at exposing first year CE students to the bioprocess engineering industry and its practices. The visit to The Italian Baker Sdn Bhd will enable the students to understand and visualize the concepts taught in class. An introductory video on the company profile and activities was shown before a walkway tour was conducted. The baking process generally begins with mixing the dough, fermentation, proving, baking, and packaging. The students were provided with an opportunity to observe and learn about an actual example of and the common practices in the bioprocess industry.

Dr. Wan Yoke Kin is an aspiring academician. She obtained a
chartered chemical engineer status and became a member of
Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), UK. She has six years of
industrial experience in process design and project management.
Her previous posts include technical process team leader, process
engineer, and project coordinator. At present, she is active in the
research areas of process synthesis, design, and optimization. Her
technical knowledge and management skills have enabled her to
obtain the gold standard qualification for professionals in
chemical, biochemical, and process engineering. Congratulations
to Dr. Wan Yoke Kin!
