With the aim of providing the elderly withthe opportunity of becoming an active partin the current society, the Senior Citizen’s

University of Castellón was created in 1998with commitment and awareness of the

importance of lifelong education. The quickand constant changes in our environment,technological advances, and the dynamicsociety require constant learning that we

yield not only through academic instructionbut also through social interaction.

Students are encouraged to reflect andshare knowledge through active learning

and interactive activities and experiences.Currently, 1026 senior students (over 55

years old) are part of this incrediblyrewarding experience.

WHAT WE DO

We share our understanding of lifelonglearning and active ageing through talks,conferences, participation in social andintergenerational activities, our magazine,radio, ICT dissemination tools, and seniors’activities, organisations, and networks. Innovating in pedagogical andmethodological processes, materials andtools is also one of our leading duties.

All courses involve activities outside theclassroom such as visiting museums,historical places and monuments, ormountain hiking. These trips enable studentsto put into practice what they have learned,what works as a complement to regularlessons and enhances acquisition of soft-skills.
