Thefilmopenswithsomebaldstatementssettingupthe‘context’forthefilm.Apparently,these explanationswere addedbecause theUS audiences for early screeningswereconvincedNever Let Me GowasdescribingrealeventsintheUK.Laughableperhaps,butthefilmisveryeffectiveatcreatingahighlybelievableandconsistentsettinginwhichmuchisentirelyrecognisableandfamiliar.
