Page 1 of 5 Maintenance Activities update July 7 to August 10, 2018 Emergency Crew stayed at work after hours in order to wait past closing time of businesses on East Main St in order to replace a service line that supplies three businesses. Finished work at 10pm. Emergency repair 11209 McCourtney Road Emergency service line repair on Rolling Hills Road in LOP Emergency service line repair on Bobolink in LOP Crew repaired a 6 inch cast iron mainline pipe in Alta Sierra. General Several crew members attended a class demonstrating the use and repair of Mueller hydrant and valve products Conduct valve turning competition for NID employees. 29 men and 12 women competed. Competition was to open and close the butterfly valve that was placed on display at the Fair. ICS Diamond Tools and Equipment demonstrated concrete and pipe chain saw to crews. Met with Nevada County to discuss the additional requirements added to the encroachment permit for Squirrel Creek Road and all future Maintenance project permits which requires a microsurface installation over the entire road surface. This requirement will add between 30% to 50% to the cost of the asphalt repair for any given Maintenance project. Facility Maintenance Crew Facility crew started the pipe installation on Wings of Morning Drive to complete the loop from WOMD and Banner Lava Cap Road. Total length of pipe is approximately 800 feet. Crew used Vac truck to located utilities at the new transformer location for the contractor in the main parking lot. Continued construction of sheds at LWW WTP. Finished framing walls and roof. Repaired office door at Placer Yard following the break in over the weekend. Demo interior walls and bathroom and completed final clean out of the Carpenter shop before building removal. Crew cutting out path in the Carpenter shop concrete floor for electrical conduit to reroute the electrical and communication lines under the new building. Framed in new roof over the block room in Maint office to fix leaking roof issues. Replaced all filters in Maint building and furnace room in Engineering Sealed exhaust fan and building repairs at E George WTP Insulated skylights in warehouse to help with cooling efficiency Nevada Irrigation District

Two crew members helped Hickey clean and organize the old lathe room. The room will be now used for tire balancing and tire/rim installs. Cleanup and weedeat at North Auburn WTP, Placer Yard, LOP WTP, David Way tanksite, E George WTP, Loma Rica dam, North Auburn sites, Green tank, Osborne Hill tanksite, Song Sparrow in LWW, Snow Mountain tanksite, Anchor Lane pump station, Green Tank Norlene pump station, Completed installation of metal door on new storage building by Spray shed. The building installation is now complete. Bird surveys conducted in front of brushing operations Completing various work orders as they are received. Construction Penn Valley pipeline replacement project pressure test and disinfection process completed and finished switching over the new services. Project completed August 2. Received two bids for the Penn Valley final paving contract. Cost came in lower than expected. Crew pot holed and began pipe installation for pipeline replacement on Squirrel Creek Road. Graded surface around Loma Rica tanks to assist the drainage. Operated boom truck at E George for the electricians Installed sample lines at North Auburn WTP Uncapped drain pipe at the abandoned Cascade Shores WTP to assist drainage issues in large storm events. Completing various work orders as they are received.

Upgrade and move ARV 11173 Cedar, 11166 Brunswick Dr,, 16084 John Way, 11404 Avern Way, 13276 Orton, 12009 Crystal Wells, 11882 Crystal Wells, 13231 Red Dog Rd Replaced service line 14015 Camas Ct, 11657 Ball Road, 11108 Meyers Way, 17804 Sunfish Ct, 2272 Ridge Road, 11150 Willow Way, 20744 Chaparral, 565 Penstock Repaired leaking service line on Chaparral Circle, 19012 Chickadee Ct., Replace BOV at 13276 Orton, 16443 Alexandra Way, 11164 Pleasant Valley Road Pot Hole for utilities on Hollyrood Way Poured and repaired concrete sidewalk on E Main and Dorsey Dr. Replaced inline valve at 15709 Tippy Way Repaired fire hydrant 10165 Commercial St LWW Pot hole service line and corp stop on Gracie road Repaired waterline leak at dump station at Scott Flat campground Gate #2 Completing various work orders as they are received. Raw Water / Canal Maintenance – Nevada County crew Installed new 12 ft gate on the Maben Canal to stop access off of Lime Kiln Rd Brushed Rex Canal just below reservoir site, Cascade canal near Banner Mtn Trail, Red Dog canal, Woodpecker canal, Clear Creek canal, access road to Rough and Ready canal, Brushed, graded, and rocked the access road down to China Union. Trying to find path down to the China pipe drop in order to replace this Fall. Pipe has lost one support structure and needs repair. Failed culvert on Champagne Lane – crew installed plate until Encroachments can determine the solution. Replaced culvert on Haveture Way on Rough and Ready canal Repaired raw water boxes that sustained damage during the fire on the Allison Ranch canal at Shelton Ct. Repaired leaks on the Red Dog canal, Tarr canal, China Union canal near Houghton Ranch Rd, Newtown canal, B canal, Replaced gate on Newtown canal near Prophets place Removed raw water boxes on the Rex Canal, Chicago Park East canal and Forest Springs canal Built bridge abutments on the Chicago Park west canal Built berm and fixed leaks at Byers Lane on Clear Creek canal, Cascade canal above Bandolier Way, Portuguese canal, Cement Hill canal, Wolf Canal, Rough and Ready canal, Grove canal, Red Hill canal, Sontag canal Canal rehab by hand placing rock riprap at road crossing on Chicago Park canal Tree removed from canal at Prophets on Newtown canal, China Union canal, Rough and Ready canal. Installed air release and clean basket screen on Lake Vera pipe on Mandolin Way. Replace wood check with metal check on Lester canal, Cement Hill canal, Replaced service box #756 on Chicago Park canal Changed in and out box on Wolf Hannaman canal Installed gate post at Gallinos property on the Clear Creek canal Working to reinforce the gate at the Taylor Crossing property where the public continues to tear down the gate and gains access to the property. Completing various work orders as they are received. Placer County crew Chained up gate at the Hemphill diversion access road off Virginia Town after someone smashed into and flattened the gate. Looking at ways to create better barrier to stop cars from entering the area. Installed fence from NID gate to walk gate on Gold Hill 2 for security.

Moved in and re-started the Mag 3 canal siphon installation. Project was started two years ago then the property owner refused to sign an easement. Easement recently acquired. Then bald eagle was spotted in the area and a biologist was contracted to make sure that the eagle was not disturbed by the work. Finally, all clear… then hit rock shelf in the first ten feet.

Remove aquatic weeds on Auburn Ravine 2, Doty North canal, from culvert on Sohier Ahart canal, Columbia East canal, Mag 1 canal.

Grade access road on Combie Ophir 2 canal, Mag 2 north, Willits canal.

Brushed canal and berm on St Patricks canal, trail to Joeger siphon, Auburn Ravine 2 canal berm, blackberry bushes on Combie Ophir 4, Dudley canal, Auburn Ravine 2 downstream of Fruitvale Road, Doty North canal.

Puddle leaks on Gold Hill 1 after #11 spill, Mag 2 North canal, Orr Creek release, Combie Ophir 2 canal, Gold Hill 2 at Spill #2, Weeks canal downstream of head, Iron Canyon off Godley Rd, Willits canal above Hwy 49, Auburn Ravine 2 canal, Bogdanoff canal, Livingston canal, Oest canal, Valley View canal, Stringham canal, Lone Star canal, Camp Far West.

Repaired broken service pipe in berm at Box #1391. Repaired air release at head of #3 siphon on the Auburn Ravine 2. Replaced water box #3176 on Pickett canal. Remove raw water box #1905. Removed large tree from Camp Far West canal, large limb from Dudley canal. Dig out service box and replace gate valve on #4665.

Clean up material due to stand pipe overtopping on Vista Robles Rd Investigating the overtopping issue on Combie Ophir 4 canal at Haines property. Crew found that two ARV’s were plugged with debris (golf balls, styrofoam, other items). Waiting to see if that helps with the issue.

Finished canal and culvert work at Luft’s property on the Combie Ophir 4 canal.

Built rip rap wall along Gold Blossom canal at Crater Hill Road to stop water leaking on road. Installed air release at head of Forster pipe on Gold Blossom canal. Narrowed canal and build berm on Mag 2 North canal. Replaced (2) two valve complexes and fire hydrant in one outage in LOP New water meter installed at 27769 Table Meadow Rd. Meter replacement 12867 Magnolia Road, 25198 Rodeo Flat Rd, and two in the Auburn Greens. Installed many new meters and fire service meters on Raven Nest Road, Timberline Village. Changed meters and endpoints in North Auburn area. Vegetation Management Crew Aquatic herbicide application continues throughout Nevada and Placer Counties Spray terrestrial weeds on canals throughout the District, as needed. Patrol system for aquatic weeds. Water samples on Riffle Box canal, China Union, Gold Hill 1, and Livingston. Walked many sections of different canals with Brian Morris and Daniel Nicholson for locations to conduct the lower height grass planting trials. Brian Morris and Larry Martin located many sites to conduct the grass plugs and organic herbicides testing. Starting property owner contact. Three crew attended pesticide seminar in Yuba City.

Mechanic Shop General maintenance and repairs of equipment and vehicles from Grass Valley, Placer, Recreation and Hydro. Rebuilt front end suspension on #9904 Service Truck Replaced A/C compressor, drier and expansion valve for #10004 using new freon transfer machine. Removed the entire dash board assembly to the fire wall to replace the heater core on 5 yard dump truck. Continued to install the remaining 40 TomTom units on trucks. After these installs a total of 185 units will be installed. That is the entire light and medium duty trucks and cars.
