Network Plan for CCMIT FACULTY ROOM
I. Introduction
In the Information Technology community, networking is the practice of linking two or more
computer devices that works together for the purpose of sharing data, hardware resources and
communication. Nowadays, it is a necessity that a company/organization has a network for its office.
A company network allows offices to share files, backup data, emails, resources and secure important
documents.
The network plan is dependent on the type of needs for the office. Small offices with only a few
people don't need as much security or high-end options that a large corporation requires. Server
installations and large data stores are expensive, so they are mainly planned by large
companies/organization. A computer network is important to an organization because it can be the
best way for an organization to have a cost reduction by sharing hardware and software resources,
high reliability by having multiple sources of supply, and greater flexibility because of possibility to
connect devices from various vendors. Because of the importance of networks technology, decisions
of purchase, structure, and operation of computer networks cannot be left to technical staff.
Organization as well has a critical need for understanding the computer networks plan.

II. Background
The CCMIT (College of Computer Management and Information Technology) was previously
located at the 3rd floor at the south wing of the main building of PUP. But today, due to some
renovations at PUP, this location was included.
Currently, the CCMIT faculty room as well as the College Computer Laboratories, Dean’s
Office, Chairperson’s Office and other offices located at 3rd floor was moved to other floors. The
Computer Laboratories was relocated at 5th floor while the offices were transferred to 4th floor. It is
said that this reassignment of room was temporary.
At present, CCMIT is facing a problem regarding their computer networks And Computer
Networks is one essential thing needed by the College. Because of the recent reassignment of rooms
their Computer Networks was also affected.
Now, the students of CCMIT are now conducting a research and proposal for the efficient and
effective Network Plan. Other students were assigned to different rooms of CCMIT to come up with
their own Network Plan. And for us we are assigned at the Faculty Room.

III. Present ICT Situation
Services
Main purpose of the room to be networked is for the use of the faculty members to help them
in their teaching needs. By creating network inside the faculty room, file-sharing will be easily
acquired by the faculty members. Through the use of the network they can easily share their
resources to other users inside the area such as forms, grade sheets, lecture notes, and some
multimedia files with ease.
By having a network, they can also obtain the connection to the Internet. By connecting to the
web, they can do many things such as communicating with other people, do their own research,
have his / her students pass their assignments, download files and many possible things that we
can do with internet.

Some faculty members use laptops because of its features that it can be transported, for
presentation purposes, and the ability of laptops to connect to a wireless network. So, the number
of connected system units is unclear because even laptop users can connect to this network.

VI. FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Findings and Conclusion
Using a wireless network means easier way of installation, less effort will be exerted and less
cost for manpower use will be done. Compared to wired network, wireless network offers a
better firewall security which is a good thing for every user in the network. Another
advantage of creating a network is that users may use only one device to share such as
Printer, Optical Drives etc.
Wireless network may cost more than a wired network connection but wireless connection is
more convenient to use because of the fact that the current location of faculty is temporary
the network connection can be adjusted to another area easily.
Recommendation
We highly recommend the use of this wireless network for the faculty room. For the fact that
teachers not only use desktop units instead they use laptops and other handheld devices and
for the reason that this type of connection can be easily move from one location to another.
Also, they can easily expand their network just by adding routers in the vicinity. Though,
wireless connection is more expensive but this network is more practical for future use.
