1. Introduction 1.1 General idea The improvements in the communication networks allow to start the design and the manufacturing of software applications that cover the great necessity of the security sector that was impossible so satisfy until now: the full control of one Digital Video Recorder remotely through the network. The final establishment of the digital technology, and the unstoppable improvement of the network communications, has produced one revolution at the moment to design new applications for the security systems. Applications that were difficult to realize due to the technology, now will become the base of the following security systems. When we talk about CCTV, we have to think in one integrated system, where the digital recorder is the heart of the system. The operability and the features of one DVR, remains out of any doubt, because a dedicated hardware guaranties to the end user a total reliability. Definitively, one DVR has all that one CCTV can need, and assures a total stability of the system. The software application for controlling the equipment remotely becomes the perfect complement for the DVR. The software application must work and run as integrator and concentrator element, converting all the joint in a veritable security system from the end user point of view. 1.2 Software Functionalities The software consists in a easy application to control Mitsubishi DVRs available in the network. The application allows to do the same operations that can be done locally (on site) with the recorder, from each point of the network. This gives to the user new opportunities, since he is able to control, to set-up and to view the equipment from his house, from the office,… once for all, wherever you are, always it’s possible to connect to the DVR through the network. This is the basic concept, then is a question to increase the operability of the system adding new features to convert it in a very powerful tool.
