ReadyDATA OS 1.4 Failback replication for easy disaster recovery
+ Problem: The biggest challenge to face once you failover to a DR location is the idea of somehow getting your data back to it’s original location
+ Solution: Failback replication, means if your primary location comes online you can replicate back by only sending new blocks that have been created whilst your business used the offsite location.

Replication
In this solution we have some users accessing data on a primary ReadyDATA that is configured with hourly snapshot protection and replication to a DR Location. The ReadyDATA 5200s could be hosting files, VMs, databases, iSCSI LUNs, or even backup Images etc …

The administrator makes the data in DR Location available for everyone. This is a fast process as data doesn’t need to be restored. Users start to access and create new data.

At some point the Production site comes online, but is now out of date

Now we can configure a new replication job (Failback Replication) to send any changed data from the DR site back to the original location.

We then get our user to start using the primary site again when it’s convenient and remove the “Failback” Replication Job.

Finally, we recreate the original replication job, without the need to send any new data!
… At this point we have failed back from DR and the Primary site is protected once more.
