Net neutrality is equal, unfettered access from all computers on the Internet to all computers on the Internet

The Internet will cost more*It opens the possibility of altered search results (freedom of speech violations) or protocol and port blocking*Less user choice*A corporation or government could dictate where you are aloud to visit*Less competition in Internet content

Interesting points about Net Neutrality

The first instance of a non neutral network causing problems happened before even the idea of the Internet was even possible.

Almon Brown Stroger found that rival funeral homes had telephone operators routing business to there homes.

Things like electricity or rail systems are examples of Neutral Networks

Toll roads are examples of a non neutral network

Why some oppose a neutral internet

Some companies oppose the concept of net neutrality, there main reasons for doing so fall under 3 main headings

1. They believe that the market should decide who gets real access to the Internet

2. They believe a neutral Internet hinders there ability to make money

3. They want more control

Conclusion

We need net neutralityWithout it the internet will change from a open public exchange of ideas to a closed costly and biased advertisement You can help by: *Switching to an ISP like Teksavy or Acanak. (they have better service and are cheaper anyway)*sending letters to the government (always cc a copy to the opposition) *not supporting bell and telling them why*Visit www.aclu.org/freethenet or www.savethenet.ca for more ideas or info*Voice your support for bill C-398 and C-555
