HYMN OF ADORATION “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” No. 150, Blue Hymnal
PRAYER OF THE DAY Liturgist-John Roushey
Holy God, you sent your son to be the light of the world, so that all may know the brightness of
your love. Fill us with your grace this day that we too may bear witness to his light and serve
your coming reign. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
RESPONSIVE READING (Liturgist)
Leader: Blessed be God, Eternal Majesty, Living Word, Abiding Spirit.
People: Glory to God forever. Amen.
Leader: Jesus said, the way to see God’s dream for the world is to be born from above by the
Spirit. The way to take part in that dream, says Jesus, is to be born of water and Spirit.
That gift is available this day. May you receive God’s Spirit, be made whole, and dwell
more deeply in love divine.
People: Amen.
(You may be seated)
If you are visiting with us, we welcome you. We hope you would participate with us
in worship, but please do not feel compelled to take part in any aspect of worship which may
make you uncomfortable. Much of our worship is call and response. The bold portions in the
bulletin are where the congregation responds to the call of the speaker.
Loving God;
Building Disciples;
Serving Christ
SONGS OF PRAISE “Salvation Belongs to Our God”
Salvation belongs to our God, Who sits upon the throne
And unto the Lamb
Praise and glory wisdom and thanks
Honor and power and strength
Be to our God forever and ever
Be to our God forever and ever
Be to our God forever and ever, Amen
And we the redeemed shall be strong, In purpose and unity.
Declaring aloud (Chorus)
“El Shadai”
Chorus
El Shaddai, El Shaddai El Elyon na Adoni
Age to age you’re still the same
by power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai Erkahm ka na Adoni
We will praise and lift you high El Shaddai.
Through Your love and through the ram
You saved the son of Abraham
Through the power of Your hand
You turned the sea into dry land
To the outcast on her knees
You were the God who really sees
And by Your might you set Your children free
(Chorus)
Through the years you made it clear
that the time of Christ is near
Though the people couldn’t see
what Messiah ought to be
Though your word contained the plan
they just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
in the frailty of Your son.
(Chorus)
CALL TO CONFESSION
Let us confess our sins to God, for the Holy One is steadfast in love and always ready to for-
give.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, we have chased after foolish things, and spent our strength on vanity; our labor
has been in vain. Deliver us from arrogance and forgive our self-concern, that we may find
our life in you. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Please take a few moments of prayer)
(Please stand if you are able)
RESPONSE TO ASSURANCE “Gloria Patri”
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
(You may be seated)
DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
Beloved, you are forgiven in Christ, the Lamb who bears our sin. Happy are those who put
their trust in God, and delight to do God’s will, for God makes our footing sure upon the rock
of Christ.
CHILDREN’S SERMON
(We invite all children through 5th grade to come up to the front of the Sanctuary for a special message for
them. They will then be dismissed to their Sunday School teacher, or if you prefer they may return to their
seats with you. Where do I pick up my child after Sunday School? The teachers will bring them up to the Au-
ditorium at 10:15 am and have them sit at the children’s tables. Please look for them to come in and make sure
that your child knows where you are so that they don’t panic when they can’t find you).
INVITATION TO THE OFFERING (Pastor Sameh Shaker)
Our God has done wondrous things, too numerous to count. Through steadfast love and
faithful care, God enriches us in every way. Therefore, do not delay! Let us offer to God our-
selves this day, all that we have and all that we are, in praise and love of Christ.
(Please take a moment to sign the Friendship Pad in the pew racks.
If you are our guest, please don’t feel obligated to participate.
We would be honored if today's service could be our gift to you.)

PASTORAL PRAYER: Pastor Sameh Shaker
LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
(Please stand if you are able)
DOXOLOGY “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow”
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Liturgist)
We give you thanks, O loving God, that you have placed in the hearts of your faithful people
the gift of generosity and the desire to do your will. Use these gifts to proclaim good news to
every nation and restore all people to Christ. Amen.
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (in unison): Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus
Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin
Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to
the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right
hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the
Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PASS THE PEACE OF CHRIST (Liturgist)
Leader: The peace of Christ be with you.
People: And also with you.
(Please stand if you are able and take a moment to greet those around you)
(You may be seated)
SCRIPTURE READING John 1:29-34 29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who
takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks
ahead of me because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing
with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32 And John testified, “I saw the
Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33 I myself did not know
him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spir-
it descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I myself have seen
and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
Leader: The Word of the Lord
People: Thanks be to God
SERMON “Messy Worship for a Messy World”
Pastor Mark Lyndaker-Studer

CHARGE
Go out into the world in peace. Be of good courage. Hold onto what is good. Render no one
evil for evil. Uplift the fainthearted. Support the weak. Laugh with those who laugh and
mourn with those who mourn. Do this in a spirit of joy and appreciation for you are God's
child. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, go in peace.
BLESSING
May God’s steadfast love and mercy lead you, and make your steps secure, keeping you for-
ever safe on paths of righteousness and peace.
WORSHIP SONG “Beautiful, Scandalous Night”
Go on up to the mountain of mercy
To the crimson perpetual tide
Kneel down on the shore
Be thirsty no more
Go under and be purified
Follow Christ to the holy mountain
Sinner sorry and wrecked by the fall
Cleanse your heart and your soul
In the fountain that flowed
For you and for me and for all
At the wonderful, tragic, mysterious tree
On that beautiful scandalous night you and me
Were atoned by His blood and forever washed white
On that beautiful, scandalous night
On the hillside, you were delivered
At the foot of the cross justified
And Your spirit restored
By the river that poured
From our blessed Savior's side

ered by the Holy Spirit.

Our pastors lead a weekly bible study at 10:00 A.M. in the auditorium. Come and go in

our congregation. Newcomers are always welcome!
