Welcome to the Nepal Festival Melbourne 2014,

a celebration of Nepal and its Multiculturalism in

Melbourne.

The festival presents a diverse range of Nepalesecultural experience for all ages, like traditional

dances, cultural parade, traditional music, food and

installation arts.

Enjoy musical performances from popular Nepali

Artists, like Sabin Rai and The Electrix Band, DibyaSubba and Milan Lama on stage at Federation

Square; and different dance forms on and off stage

through-out the day.

If youre interested in Food, theres a range of foodstall down Yarra Walk. Try different cuisines fromNepal and experience the avour of Nepal.

If networking and connection is your thing, there area range of stalls on the square were you can discuss

business opportunities with Nepalese Businesses.

One thing, however, is certain - No matter what

your interest, Nepal Festival Melbourne 2014 hassomething in store for you.

NEPAL FESTIVAL MELBOURNE

Nepal Festival Melbourne is the biennial celebrationof Nepal in Melbourne. This is the third Nepal

Festival Melbourne being celebrated. Previously, itwas celebrated on 2008 and 2010.

It aims to promote Nepal and its rich cultural

heritage, and introduce its culinary delights toMelburnians.

EMBRACE CULTURE. ENRICH LIFE

Embrace Culture. Enrich Life. is the theme ofNepal Festival Melbourne this year.

The festival will showcase different cultures ofNepal and as well as how Nepal ts into the broad

spectrum of multi-cultural Melbourne.

The prime focus of the festival is to bring togetherdifferent communities in Melbourne, and encourage

all of us to embrace the variety in us.

Nepal Festival is organised by Non-ResidentNepalese Association Australia (NRNA Australia,

together with Nepalese Association of Victoria andEmbassy of Nepal.

CULTURAL PARADE

Nepalese of different cultural background like Newars,Manange, Limbus, Madhesi, Tamu, Tamangs, Gurungs,

Magars and different associations will meet at State

Library of Victoria at 12 Noon.

They will then process towards Federation Square in aCultural Parade along Swanston Street.

Watch out for different cultural dances, Nepalese Ethnic

costumes, and traditional Music.

LAKHE DANCE

Lakhe are demonicguardians in Newar

Culture.

CHANDI DANCE

Chandi Dance is a Kiratitradition worshipping

goddess Kali.

DEUSI SONG

Deusi is a typical Nepaliceleration song of Tihar(DipawalI) Festival.

FACE-PAINTING

Watch out for a free-facepainting event around thesquare.

CHYABRUNG NACH

Chyabrung is a traditionalLimbu Dance.

these are pastry balllled with spiced

minced meat.

Steamed, Fried,

chutneys.

SAMAY BAJI

It is said that Newars

are culinary geniuses ofNepal.

Newars have over

200 different cuisine tothem only (!).

Samay Baji is an

excellent start to

explore Newari cuisine,it is a festival set of

different foods servedtogether.

SEL-ROTI

These crispy-fried rice

doughnuts are Nepalistaple festival snacks.

Often consumed with

potato salads or withchutneys. These are

excellent appetizersand snacks.

Stove caramelizedsel-rotis are every

Nepaleses favouritebreakfast.

Nepali DANCE

Young Nepali Choreographers from Victoria,

have come together to bring Nepali Culturaldances to Nepal Festival Melbourne 2014.

Some of the themes include:

Festival of Nepal :Dancers will showcase

different festivals of Nepal

Multi-cultural Nepal :Dancers willshowcase different cultures of Nepal.

Nepal and the world : This is a fusiondance on how Nepal is evolving and this

dance-segment incorporates different stylesof dance from around the world with Nepalidance.

Remember to stay glued to the stage if youdo not want to miss the action.

Sabin Rai is the heart-throb of millions of teenagegirls of Nepal. Rock out to his rocky-nepali tuneswith his band THE ELECTRIX.

MILAN LAMA

Milan Lama is one of the best onhis genre. His song Majhi Dai... isone of the most played dohori song

in the history of Nepal.
