    History:

Nelson is a city on the eastern shores of Tasman Bay, and is theeconomic and cultural centre of the Nelson-Tasman region.

Established in 1841, it is the second oldest settled city in New

Zealand and the oldest in the South Island.

Nelson received its name in honors of the Admiral Horatio Nelson

who defeated both the French and Spanish fleets at the Battle ofTrafalgar in 1805. Many of the roads and public areas around the

city are named after people and ships associated with that battle

and Trafalgar Street is the main shopping axis of the city.

Inhabitants of Nelson are referred to as Nelsonians.

Together with the town of Richmond, the Nelson Urban Area has a

population of around 60,000 ranking it as New Zealands 9th most

populous city and the geographical centre of New Zealand.

Nelson is well known for its arts and crafts, and each year hostspopular events such as the Nelson Arts Festival. The annual

Wearable Art Awards began near Nelson and a museum, World of

Wearable Art, is now housed close to Nelson Airport showcasing

    winning designs.

    Attractions:

Abel Tasman National Park(established in 1942) is renowned for itsgolden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and world-famous Abel Tasman

Coast Track. It also has a mild climate and is a good place to visit at any

time of the year. The park is in one of the sunniest places in the country, so

it is a good place to visit at any time of the year. Its most notable features are

the golden sandy beaches, the rich estuaries, the fascinating sculptured rocky

Kahurangi National Parkcreated in 1996, Kahurangi is one of NewZealand's newest national parks, and at 452,002 hectares it is also the second

largest. Translated, its name has a number of meanings including 'treasured

possession', an apt description of its wonderfully diverse natural and

recreational values. In places it is an untracked wilderness; elsewhere awonderful network of tracks lets you explore wild rivers, high plateaux and

alpine herb fields, and coastal forests.

Nelson Lakes National Park:Lush green valleys and hills nestleamongst great snow-covered mountains offering a walk, hike or strenuous

climb depending on your ability and how far up you want to go.

Nelson Lakes National Park has an enchanting forest with a plethora of

native birdlife just a short distance from St Arnaud. The forming of giant

glaciers over the last two ice ages has seen the creation of the surrounding

    lakes.

At the moment the Department of Conservation is working hard to create an

environment where the natural habitats found at the Nelson Lakes National

Park continue to thrive. Especially important is the honeydew beech trees

that supply the local habitats with the nutrition they need. Lower in the

forest, the smell of honeydew can be scented.

    Personalities:

Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bront, KB (29September 1758 21 October 1805) was a flag officer famous for his

My opinion:Along New Zealand, Nelson city has a beautiful charisma and it has a

    interesting history.

We have seen that Nelson city is near Tasman bay. There are extraordinary

sightsees to visit and it is a sunny place.

New Zealand is a beautiful island country and is the newest settlement to

    have been occupied by people.

    Suggestion

I believe that if I would have the chance to visit Nelson, New Zealand, I

would do that without second thoughts.

Not only that I would visit Nelson, but I recommend to everyone that has

possibilities to visit Nelson city to do that because they will not regret.
