• Considerations for selecting and completing key elements of the Subcontract Data • Main options and secondary options • Relationship between the subcontract and main contract • Incorporating main contract works information, Z clauses, etc. into the subcontract • Important matters not dealt with in the NEC Subcontracts • Executing the sub-contract

2. Payment under the subcontract conditions

• Assessment dates • Applications for payment • Price for Work Done to Date • Amount due • Certification of payments • Due dates and final dates for payment • Pay less notices • Retention

3. Communications

• Authority of Contractor’s and Subcontractor’s staff/representatives • Form of communications • Periods for reply • Notifications • Acceptances • Instructions – powers, duties and scope • Changes to the Subcontract Works Information • Early warnings • Risk Register and risk reduction meetings
