The NEBOSH International Diploma is the qualification for aspiring health and safety
professionals building directly upon the foundation of knowledge provided by the NEBOSH International General Certificate. The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is an internationally respected qualification for those wanting to develop a career in Occupational Health and Safety Practice. It also provides a sound basis for progression to an MSc.

Entry Requirements
NEBOSH recommends that candidates undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7.0 or higher in IELTS tests in order to be accepted onto an International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety programme.
Course Content
The syllabus is divided into 4 units and takes around 450 hours of study:
UNIT IA: International Management of Health and Safety (170 Hours)
Principles of health and safety management, Loss causation and incident investigation, Measuring and reviewing health and Safety performance, Identifying hazards assessing and evaluating risks, Risk control, Organizational factors, Human factors and Regulating health and safety.
UNIT IB: International Control of hazardous Agents in the Workplace (115 Hours)
Principles of Toxicology And epidemiology, Hazardous substances and other chemicals- Assessment of risk, Hazardous substances and other chemicals- Engineering controls and personal protective equipment, Monitoring and measuring, Biological agents, Physical agents 1- noise and vibration, Physical agents 2- radiation, Psychosocial agents, Musculoskeletal risks and controls, Work environment risks and Controls and managing occupational health.
UNIT IC: International workplace and Work equipment Safety (115 Hours)
It includes: General workplace issues. Principles of fire and explosion, Workplace of fire and explosion, Storage handling and processing of dangerous substances, Work equipment (general), Work equipment (Workplace machinery), Work equipment (mobile, lifting and access), Electrical safety, Construction hazards and controls, Pressure system hazards and controls.
Unit ID – International Application of Health and Safety Theory and Practice (56 Hours)
The Unit ID assignment (Application of International Health and Safety Theory and Practice) consists of one standard written assignment that requires students to make a detailed review of the health and safety management of a workplace or organisation and produce justified action plans for improvement. This requires students to apply knowledge and understanding gained from Units IA, IB and IC in a practical environment and to undertake critical analysis and evaluation of information. Assessment
Units IA, IB and IC are each assessed by a three-hour written examination. Unit ID is assessed by an assignment which takes around 50 hours to complete. Exams are held in January and July of each year.
