NDSU Choral Department

Five Choirs

NDSU Concert Choir,

The Madrigal Singers,

University Chamber Singers,

The Statesmen and cantemus

The NDSU Concert Choir

has a rich and

distinguished tradition of

performing the highest

quality choral literature at

the highest level of

artistry.

Under Dr. Jo Ann Miller’s

direction, the NDSU Concert

Choir has performed at state,

regional and national

music conventions.

The 65 member mixed-choir

has produced more than 30

recordings.

The NDSU Concert

Choir tours every

spring and has

performed in 30

states and several

provinces of

Canada. A European

tour is featured

every three years.

In 2012, the NDSU Concert Choir won

the 8th Annual International Choir Competition

in Zadar, Croatia.

The Madrigal Singers is an ensemble of 16-20 singers chosen

from the NDSU Concert Choir. They perform vocal chamber

music from the Renaissance through the 21st century.

Under Dr. Michael Weber’s direction,

they have performed at state and regional

music conventions. s

Each December, The Madrigal Singers

present the Annual Madrigal Dinners.

The Madrigal Singers tour with the

NDSU Concert Choir each spring.

Working with

Hilary Apfelstadt.

University

Chamber

Singers

Directed by Dr. Charlette Moe,

the University Chamber Singers is

an auditioned mixed choir

of 24-32 members.

UCS performs a

wide-variety of

music at two

concerts each

semester and

at the Annual

NDSU Madrigal

Dinners.

The NDSU Statesmen is the non-auditioned

men’s choir.

Under the direction of Dr. Michael Weber, The Statesmen have

campus-wide participation and perform a wide variety of music.

The NDSU Statesmen perform at two concerts

each semester and have appeared at regional conferences.

The non-auditioned women’s choir, cantemus, is directed by Dr. Charlette Moe.ith the NDSU Concert Choir.

cantemus enjoys campus-wide

participation and performs a

wide variety of music.

cantemus hosts

the Annual

Women’s Choral

Festival and Holiday

Carols each year.

Auditions: vocal warm up, ear training exercises and a prepared vocal

solo. An accompanist will be provided. If a prepared vocal solo is unavailable,

“America” (My Country Tis of Thee) could be performed.
