Success of NDEP – what is based on?Success of NDEP – what is based on?
• Successful structure of loans by partner IFIs (EBRD, NIB, NEFCO, EIB, KfW) pooled together with grants and national funding
• Strong stakeholder engagement - Russia is the main client and major Contributor to the Fund
• Light and transparent structure benefitting of the expert resource base of IFIs
• NDEP creates opportunities for municipal clients and provides capacity building and high political visibility on an international level
NorthernNorthern DimensionDimension EnvironmentalEnvironmental PartnershipPartnership
• NDEP relies on the ND Partners to promote and support NDEP
• NDEP has and is keen further to build close cooperation with other initiatives: HELCOM, CBSS, EU Baltic Sea Strategy, Nordic Council of Ministries, Barents Euro-Arctic Council for joint actions and projects to improve the ecology in the ND region
• NDEP recognizes the role of BEAC to identify hot spots in the Barents region which could be tackled through NDEP investment projects (similarly to NDEP’s cooperation with HELCOM)
• Notably in Barents Region 74% of Black Carbon comes from coal fired boilers for district heating; out of total 800ton/a. Investments for sector modernization required!
