SummaryApplication
NDB3 series circuit breaker for equipment is used in the power system with rated current up to 100A, rated voltage up to AC230/400V(50/60Hz) or DC80V. It provides overload, short circuit protection. It can also be used for infrequent close or open.

Load
Short circuit and overload protection is provided by a hydraulic magnetic release. The series trip mechanism is consisted of a current sensing coil and contact groups.
Inside the delay tube is iron core, spring and dampening oil. The contacts and coil are connected by an armature. When close the contacts, the current flows over the breaker and generate electromagnetic force.
When at rated current or less, magnetic flux doesn't have enough strength to attract the iron core to the pole piece. The iron core and armature keep unmoving and the contacts are still closed.
When at a moderate overload condition, the magnetic field strength gradually increases, drawing the iron core to the pole piece. When the iron core is fully attracted to the pole piece, the maximum electromagnetic force generated by the coil attracts the armature to the pole piece, unlatching the latch and opening the contacts.
When at a much overload or short circuit condition, the electromagnetic energy grows so rapidly, and enough magnetic flux is generated to immediately attract the armature, when the iron core doesn't move at all. Such design guarantees much faster trip response at a short circuit condition.

When at rated current or less, magnetic flux doesn't have enough strength to attract the iron core to the pole piece. The iron core and armature keep unmoving.
When at a moderate overload condition, the magnetic field strength gradually increases, drawing the iron core to the pole piece. The spring is compressed, and the resistance force delays the movement of the iron core, thereby realizing delay protection.
When the electromagnetic force reaches setting value , the iron core is fully in the pole piece, and the armature is attractedto the pole piece too.
When at a much overload or short circuit condition, the electromagnetic energy grows so rapidly, and enough magnetic flux is generated, thereby immediately attracting the armature to the pole piece without the movement of the iron core.

Working Condition
One trip mechanism for both overload and short circuit protection, significantly decrease power consumption.
Temperature stable and trip characteristic depends only on magnetic flux.
No warm-up period to response to overload; No cool-down period after overload before it can be reset.
The temperature change affects oil viscosity. High viscosity at low temperature means longer delay time, thus enough time must be given to start an equipment at cold state; conversely low viscosity at high temperature means shorter delay time, thus giving rise to immediately trip to protect against overload. Such is inverse time protection.
Large opening range between contacts (NDB3-30≥4.8mm, NDB3-50≥8.5mm, NDB3-100≥10mm). Effectively avoid break down and easy to extinguish arc.
Trip characteristic can be designed by adjusting the parameter of coil and the oil viscosity.
Accurate current setting value and low repeated trip error.
A variety of wiring methods including quik-connect terminal, screw terminal, screw with upturned lugs, stud terminal and so on. A variety of mounting methods including screw mounting, embedded mounting and so on.
A variety of actuator types including rocker, long handle, short handle and so on.
Do not disassemble the breaker privately.
Attention to live part when the breaker is energized and avoid touching them.
Do not adjust the breaker characteristics at will.
Please make sure reliable connection to avoid fault tripping or damage of terminal caused by exceptional heat resulting from unsuitable connection.
The breaker should be embedded into installation panel first when installing the breaker with guard. Then put the guard in position and fix it with screws.
The fasten torque of screw is 0.5N.m.
The breaker should be mounted within 5° of the mounting plane in case the characters of the product are affected.
