NCW Knitters Guild Newsletter November 2013 Business Meeting Presiding: Michele Townliand, President; 42 attending. Welcome & Introductions by Michele Treasurer: Balance is $2,666.96 October minutes approved. Minutes are emailed to members. Membership: April will send out a membership list showing outstanding dues. Please send checks to NCW Knitters Guild at P.O. Box 2851, Wenatchee. If you have any updates (address, email, etc.) please get those to April. Dues were due in August! Current Projects & Committee Reports Upcoming Programs: December: Potluck and ugly Christmas sweater contest. Please bring a dish that begins with the first letter of your last name. Workshops/Events: Fair Isle event will wait until after the 1st of the new year. Pybus University Guild was invited to hold a winter class at the market. Mary Ann agreed to lead a learn to knit class with assistance from guild members. Date TBA. I Love Yarn Day held at Pybus in October had a good turnout, and Steve Robinson, Market Manager, welcomed us to come back. Marilee will lead a Knit-A-Long for felted slippers over the next four Sundays (starting Nov. 10th) from 2:30-5:00 p.m. at April’s home, 925 Stevens St., Wenatchee. Please bring a chair. Patterns available from Fiber Trends website and at Elite. Email Marilee at [email protected] if you want to participate. Shop Talk: Elite Needlework Mary Ann announced she is retiring after 26 years at Elite! Good news for her, sad news for knitters everywhere. Starting tomorrow (Nov. 6th), everything in the shop will be 20% off . Gift certificates will be honored until January 30, 2014. New book at the shop “60 Quick Knits from America’s Yarn Shops” just arrived; Knitting Traditions has a guest towel pattern that would be lovely in linen yarn. As always, loads of gorgeous yarns to choose from. Cashmere Cottage Yarns (from Nov. Newsletter) - Madelinetosh is arriving soon! Several new yarns from Plymouth: Bamtastic, Coffee Beenz, Daisy, Diversity, Encore Neon. Come and knit at the shop on Wednesdays from 1:00-3:00 pm or 5:00-8:00 pm, and on Thursdays from 1:00-3:00 pm. Warehouse Woolery Open knitting at the shop noon-6pm on Thursdays.

Charity: Mary Ann expressed her gratitude for all the hats created for Wellness Place. Please

consider knitting hats for the men at Hospitality House.

Door Prize: A copy of “60 Quick Knits from America’s Yarn Shops” and a skein of yarn

donated by Elite Needlework—won by Sharon Paine.

Website/Library: Jackie brought an assortment of knitting themed novels.

Tips/Tech/Tools/Misc: Skipped this meeting—needed more time for program and sharing.

Program: Yarn swap, with trivia question winners getting the first choices, then small knitted
