Page 1 of 16 NCL REMOTE WORKING LAPTOP USER ENROLMENT GUIDE Please note: You will require a mobile phone with reception beside you to register onto the new network Step 1) Power on the laptop and when presented with the Windows username and password login screen, the laptop will firstly need to be connected to any internet based connection. This can be achieved by either a wired or a wireless connection. The ethernet port can be found on the right side of the laptop if using a wired connection. To connect wireless, right click the globe icon on the bottom right hand of the screen > left click your wireless connection > enter your wireless password > tick the ‘connect automatically’ box via a left click > left click ‘connect’ button

NCL REMOTE WORKING LAPTOP USER ENROLMENT GUIDE

Please note: You will require a mobile phone with reception beside you to register onto the new network

Step 1) Power on the laptop and when presented with the Windows username and password login screen, the laptop will firstly need to be connected to any internet based connection. This can be achieved by either a wired or a wireless connection. The ethernet port can be found on the right side of the laptop if using a wired connection.

To connect wireless, right click the globe icon on the bottom right hand of the screen > left click your wireless connection > enter your wireless password > tick the ‘connect automatically’ box via a left click > left click ‘connect’ button

Step 2) Once connected to the internet, you will now need to enrol onto the network. To start this process, left click on the ‘other user’ icon to be presented with the login screen

Step 3) Enter your *@ncld.nhs.uk username and temporary password (note: the first part of your username is the same as your NHSmail username but instead of *@nhs.net it is *@ncld.nhs.uk).

In the example below, the user’s NHSmail username is [email protected] so the user’s username to log onto the new network is [email protected]

Your temporary password will be emailed to you seperately

Step 4) you will now need to register either your face or fingerprint for the next step

Step 4a) Use face recognition:

Left click on ‘Use face recognition’ for Windows Hello Sign in and left click ‘Set up’ button to proceed

Look directly at the camera while your face is scanned (note: if the screen is black, slide the camera slider to the right to turn the camera on)

Step 4b) Use your fingerprint:

Left click on ‘Use your fingerprint’ for Windows Hello Sign in and left click ‘Set up’ button to proceed

Gently touch the fingerprint sensor (power button) at the top right as highlighted in the screenshot below

Follow the onscreen ‘Lift and touch again’ instructions

Select next on the ‘Now try another angle’ screen

Gently keep lifting and placing your finger on the fingerprint reader at different angles to complete your fingerprint enrolment on this screen

Step 5) You will now be asked to ‘Create a PIN’. Left Click ‘Next’

Step 6) Enter temporary password and left click the ‘Sign in’ button

Step 8) You will be presented with the ‘Additional security verification’ screen where you will need to select ‘United Kingdom’ as your region (tip: use the ‘page down’ key to get to the ‘United Kingdom’ quicker), enter your mobile telephone number in the white box to the right of your region and left click the ‘Next’ button

Step 9) You will now be presented with the screen below. Please enter the 6 digit code sent from Microsoft Verification to your mobile handset into the white box and left click the ‘Verify’ key

Step 10) You will now see a message like the screenshot below confirming ‘verification successful!’

Left click the ‘Finished’ Key

Step 11) You will now be asked to ‘Update your password’. Insert your temporary password and enter a new password twice and left click the ‘Sign in’ button (note: please use a complex password consisting of upper case, lower case, numbers and ideally special characters also)

Step 12) Left click the ‘Next’ key in the screenshot below

Step 13) You will be presented with the screenshot below and will be required to verify your telephone number by left clicking the ‘Verify’ key

Step 14) Left click the ‘text me’ button and insert the 6 digit Microsoft verification code sent to your mobile handset into the white box and left click the ‘verify’ button

Step 15) Left click the ‘Finish’ button like the screenshot below

Step 16) You will now be prompted to enter a New PIN which has to be at least 6 digits. If you left click the box to ‘include letters and symbols’ your PIN can now include letters and symbols also (6 character minimum again) and left click the ‘OK’ button

Step 18) You will now be logged into Windows. Reboot the laptop by left clicking the start button > Power > Restart > Restart anyway

Once the device has rebooted, you will now be able to log into the device with your chosen Windows Hello biometrics method to start using the device (note: you can also log in via your PIN /username and password as a fallback also by left clicking the ‘Sign-in options’ text on the login screen)

Step 19) Optional but highly recommended as this will allow for you to be able reset and manage your own password without the need to call the IT Service Desk. When logged into the device with access to you NHSmail account, internet and mobile phone please browse to https://aka.ms/ssprsetup and enter your *@ncld.nhs.uk username and select ‘Next’

Enter the 6 digit code from your mobile handset and select ‘Verify’

Tick the ‘Don’t show this again’ box and select ‘Yes’

Select ‘set it up now’ to authenticate your NHSmail email address

Enter your NHSmail email account and left click ‘email me’

Enter the 6 digit code found within your NHSmail email address and left click ‘verify’

Left click ‘Finish’

You have now verified your account and will be able to reset your own account on the logon screen when connected to the internet without needing the call the Service Desk by left clicking on Sign-in options > I forgot my PIN and following the onscreen instructions
