As the Baltimore Ravens season is underway Director of Business

Services to a game to support the team! Jerome Williams and
Leroy Van Horn, who work on our I95 contract, accompanied
Vanessa for a fun evening and a Ravens win.

Residential Participates in “National Night Out” Last month the Fairbrook Homeowners Association hosted a “Night Out’ to raise community
awareness and safety. Members from our 1728 and 1731 Windingbrook homes participated in the
event and received a warm reception from the community. Individuals took pictures with HOA
board members, spoke with neighbors, and shared snacks and beverages with friends in the
community. A special thank you to House Manager, Andra Shelton, for organizing NCIA’s
participation in this event.

CJS: NCIA Assists in Probation for Opioid Distribution Case
Herb Hoelter was recently consulted for his expertise on a case in the Western District of New York Federal Court. This case involved a first time offender who was charged with possession with intent to distribute opioids. Based on background and mitigation factors developed by NCIA in conjunction with the attorney, Dominic Saraceno, the defendant received three years’ probation. The attorney stated, “NCIA was instrumental in developing background information and alternatives for presentation in this challenging opioid distribution case”. This is a great success story in a challenging case and NCIA is proud to share its involvement. In a follow up from this case Herb received a heart warming letter from the client’s 70 year old mother. (Names removed for legal purposes.)
Dear Herb, As the days pass from the time of (name’s) sentencing, I keep hoping that the words to thank you would certainly come into my mind and heart. I have come to the realization that any words I say to you will never be adequate. How does a mother thank a gentleman for saving her son's life? Answering this question comes in the form of an infinitesimal amount of the grand old words, "Thank you," for all the work and time you sacrificed to save (name). You counseled him, you offered him patience, kindness, trust, and above all, you placed your masterful skills at his (and our) service. There is, however, more to this question's answer. The remainder of my gratefulness comes in the form of an offer. May you always know that if you ever need help, the (name) family will do so in any way possible. One more time, thank you.
Cases like this remind us of the great impact we make here at NCIA.
HR Holds Professionalism Workshop at CDP

Recently at our Career Development Program NCIA’s Human Resource Generalist, Steve
Cole, held a workshop on professionalism in the workplace.
This workshop was for new hires and tenured employees. Many topics were discussed
such as learning how to rate team members on ‘employable skills’, teaching traits and
behaviors that are acceptable, and showing examples of how dependable employees act in
the workplace. Team building exercises were also completed at this workshop.
Marketing Efforts Increase at Total Care Open House
Total Care Services Inc. is a company that designs, promotes, and provides high quality
health care programs, services and products that empower people to maximize their
potential. NCIA recently attended a Total Care Open House to help maximize the growth
of all of our programs. Vanessa Harrison and Stephen Cooke attended and was able to meet
with other service providers, individuals, and families to teach them about the exciting
opportunities NCIA offers.
These events help the NCIA programs and brand reach as many members of the community
as possible and we plan to attend future open houses as well.

Dwayne Wilson and Lauren Hill would like to share the success of NCIA Employee, Stuart Wilde.
Dimensional Health Care came to the NCIA Career Development Center to complete an audit and
had high praise that was shared for Stuart. The letter was as follows:
Good Afternoon NCIA!
I was at the DP today to complete a QA Audit. I was extremely pleased to see that Stewart was still
there!
I wanted to take the time to let you know that Stewart is doing an AMAZING job in his position! The
books were better then we have EVER seen them. The med room was so clean, and most importantly
the clients level of care is beyond what we have ever seen in the past. Stewart is truly an amazing
employee and his work reflects how much he cares about his job and the clients.
Stuart has created a relationship with the on call nurses at our office as well as the pharmacy in order
to advocate for the clients. This is above and beyond anything we have seen someone in his position
do!
We hope to see Stuart at our next audit in 6 months. And please feel free to show/forward this email
to Stewart to let him know how great he is doing. Thank you !
NCIA Employee Shines During Audit
Individuals from the Adult Day Program took to the water in a community outing last month for a
great time learning swimming basics and swim safety.
