#1: Define Goals

October - November 2012 (done)• The En Camino app will help families adopt

habits towards the pursuit of college and career achievements.

• The app will spur a groundswell of user-generated content that creates a social online community of support for low-income, Latino families.

#2: Create Concept

November 2012 (done)• The En Camino app will identify 6 habits

necessary by families to pursue their dreams of college and beyond.

• The app will provide ways to practice those habits and log progress against their dreams via timeline and Dream Board features and through social media networking.

#3: Identify Developer

December 2012 (done)• NCFL will contract with Why Roll to create our

app. • Why Roll is a mobile-focused company• Why Roll has significant experience creating

native and web-based apps (sample screen shots in appendix 1)

#4: Architect

January 23 – April 2013• The functional, technical, and creative

requirements are outlined in this phase• Successful completion of ALPHA stage of

development is achieved• Creative compositions developed• Programming begins• Raw content is gathered

#5: Develop and Build

April – July 2013• Technical team performs system design –

software and hardware requirements and network

• Creative team completes basic experience, information, and interface design

• Site content developed• BETA stage completed (working pilot mobile

website)• Creation of a review timeline

#6: Release

Pilot – July 2013

Formal Release – September 2013

• Conduct final quality assurance process to assure all deliverables functioning properly

• Management training• Integrate app with hosting provider and

reporting systems

#7: Monitor and Revise

Ongoing• Reassess to determine if app is meeting

user needs and expectations• Collect traffic information – both volume

and source• Evaluate overall use of app as a learning

tool with pilot sites • Revise functionality or content as

appropriate

Quality Assurance

Together with our developer, Why Roll, NCFL is committed to delivering a high-quality, highly usable, exploit-free and bug-free app for families. QA testing will include:• Creating testing and staging environments• Developing audience use patterns and tasks• Executing tests and reporting guidelines• Formal bug tracking system• Separating bugs from functional change requests• Attaching priorities and deadlines to bugs and changes• Application unit testing
