Message From the President WOW, what a great car show at Selman Chevrolet on Saturday, April 14. A record number of cars (135), lots food, gifts and fun. For all of you that had anything to do with the event, go stand in front of a mirror and pat yourself on the back for an extremely well done job. As you smile at your achievement, many more smiles will come to the children of the charities our club supports. The Prez

General Meeting Minutes, April 3, 2007 1. Pres Greg opened our April meeting at 7:06pm with our much enjoyed jokes of the night. Tonight’s jokes were

good – for a change!! ☺ Special treat – now Jim Cooper told a joke – we really love to laugh at this club!! Wow, and did we have a full house with lots of new Corvette Lovers!

2. Marrietta Darke was out sick. -- We send happy well thoughts to her. 3. Donna was not at the meeting, therefore, we nominated Karen DeB to filling in for tonight and introduce the

new people. a. Larry 59 & 07 b. Janet – 07 – this is her 5th c. Grant – bought from Selman – new Z06 d. Frank – Grant’s friend – has 91 e. Ron & Dianne – f. Ron & Jody – has an 07 from Selman g. Jerry – Red 07 h. Scott – Yellow

4. Teresa gave the Treasurer’s report. 5. Webmaster Jan circulated a questionnaire to be returned. In an attempt to have everything work smoothly, input

is so important, so please give Jan your input. 6. Kathy Baddley once again did a fabulous job on the Newsletter! A few suggestions were given to help shorten

the pages. If someone wants to write an article, make it short – explain the article. Articles with pictures need to be minimized to fit on the pages. Flyers for only the future month will be in the Newsletter. All other flyers will still be on the web page.

7. Greg passed a volunteer sign up sheet for Apr 14th show. We made an exception that if you register your car at the meeting, you can still register for $25.00!!! As of tonight’s sign ups, we are up to 84…..and counting!!

8. Geno – new members get to VIP benefits with Selman. Selman is proud to be sponsoring CSS. They have monthly specials.

9. The March gathering was the Gambler’s Classic in Laughlin – Scott Glover was volunteered (by Greg) to share some of the fun. A few chimed in……

10. There was a recent Santa Anita Car Show – Ed Childs attended and shared comments. 11. Joe went to Fontana Speedway ran with NASA – ½ oval, ½ road course. So rare for Joe to love to go racing! 12. We recently participated a fun time at Irwindale Raceway that Ron DeB organized. – 22/23 cars – had a blast!!

Jim Cooper ran the parade lap – drifting!!! Rick & Lynn let their daughter drive one of their cars on the track – guess we know who will be inheriting that one!

13. Joe announced all the upcoming events. Listed birthdays and anniversaries. These are listed on the Newsletter and website. We would like to submit apologies, for Ken Vasilik’s birthday was mistakenly omitted for last February. A belated Happy Birthday to Ken!

14. LA Racing – we can get a group together for stock car racing? SIGN ME UP. 10 laps for $100, per person. 15. Nick from Selman, has a Bob Bondurant signed die cast car to auction at the April 14th Show!!! John Campbell

will be there. Nick got to drive the Calloway – awesome car! News for 2008….. 6.2 liter, 550 HP possibilities. Someone in our club will be getting his new Ron Fellows Z06 this month on display on April 14th.

16. Ron DeB – CSS & Selman car show. We need volunteers – please sign up. Arrive at Selman at 7am or earlier – 6:30am will be great.

17. Raffles were conducted. Unbelievable – Ron Jobes won the 50/50 money - AGAIN! Bert won twice again too – some people are just lucky every month!

18. Dinner raffle was won by Dave Stewart. 19. Greg informed the guests tonight, that our 50/50 money is donated to our Charities. Greg is interested in finding

one or two more charities. 20. Next CSS & Selman Show planning meeting is next Tuesday, April 10th at 7:00pm. 21. Rick Miller announced that Irwindale will host a club night for drag racing. See Rick if interested. 22. The next Board of Director meeting location and time will be emailed out to everyone. 23. Renita & Scott shared an upcoming Cinco de Mayo, May 5th event at the Santa Barbara area Wineries. They

will be going and would like to know if anyone would be interested in having some wine with them? 24. It was motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:38pm, seconded by Joe.

Well, my typical special note from the Secretary…….

Page 4: NCCC WEST COAST REGIONcorvettesupersports.com/Newsletters/2007/CSS April 2007.pdf · We made an exception that if you register your car at the meeting, you can still register for

Greg announced to the club that we have three special people that have recently QUIT SMOKING!!!! Of course Ann quit many moons ago, but now Doug and Lynn have quit! We also have 2 newcomers, John Simon and Janet Fraser! As a former smoker (over 2 years now), I would personally like to encourage them to continue with their strength to not smoke. I know all too well how tough it is to not want 2 bottles of wine and a carton of cigarettes!!! But as we all know, there’s nothing worse than a reformed smoker – so keep up the good work and join many others of us!! May you have a very Blessed Month of April, a Happy Holiday and may you remember where you hid all your eggs so that you don’t find this years eggs…. Next year!! Don’t forget 2 things (how many of us can remember 2 things……….)

1. Secretaries Day is Wednesday, April 25th 2. Postage Stamps increase in price to $0.41 on May 1st!

Respectfully Submitted By: Cindy Orrico – Secretary (AKA Goddess)

Newsletter Editor We still look forward to your experiences etc in the form of articles which can be shared with the rest of the club. Please submit your suggestions and article content at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

Good to Know National Geographic has chosen to feature Bowling Green Assembly this year in their series "Ultimate Factories", with a focus on the Corvette. Showcasing the world's most innovative and popular products, the series explores accomplishments in designing and fabricating exciting and iconic items. Each 50-minute show explores one awesome product. From start to finish, they uncover how each product is made and the factory that makes it. They look at the culture of each product - what makes it special and why people love it. As this is a National Geographic Show, engineering science and the consumer responsiveness behind design innovations are an important part of the program. Iconic brands they profiled last year include Ferrari, Harley Davidson, Budweiser, Peterbilt and John Deere. The show will be screened both locally and internationally. Here's a little more information. * National Geographic Channel International and National Geographic Channel combined reach 230 million households in 27 languages in 151 countries. * A typical USA National Geographic Channel program is aired ten times and is seen by five million viewers. * The National Geographic's web site, www.nationalgeographic.com, gets 50 million page-views per month, and the television programming is actively featured on the website. * To check out a preview of their Harley Davidson show, log on to http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/ultimatefactories Submitted by Joe Orrico
