Pez Makes Move Into Chewy Candy ArenaPez Hedz, soft, chewy candy shaped to resemble Hello Kitty and bears’ heads, mark PezCandy, Inc.’s entrance into the fastest growing non-chocolate segment.

Co-manufactured by German firm Katjes Fassin GmbH, the Hello Kitty items are available instrawberry and raspberry, while Bearz products come in peach, grape and cherry. Further, bothvarieties feature accents in complementary flavors such as blueberry bows on the raspberryHello Kitty pieces and lemon and strawberry ears on the grape Bearz.

“As has been the case for nearly 88 years, Pez has produced products with iconic shapes andcharacter heads,” says President and CEO Joe Vittoria. “Whether consumers will enjoy themwhole or eat the different parts one bite at a time, Pez Hedz are just as much fun as ourtraditional Pez dispensers and candy.”

Coming in five-ounce peg bags with a SRP range of $2.29 to $2.49, they ship in 12-ct cases.

Gummies Deliver 20g Of Protein Per PouchFormulated to provide 20g of rapid-acting protein per 200-calorie pouch, RAP Protein Gummiesare new from RAP Nutrition, LLC in three varieties.

Coming in strawberry, mixed berry and citrus, the candies are made with whey protein isolatesand are gluten- and fat-free, the company claims. In addition, the gummies deliver 100 percentof the RDA of vitamin C.

Further, RAP Nutrition reports the chewable snacks’ carbohydrates help replenish workout-depleted glycogen levels and amino acids in the protein help build and maintain lean muscle.

Packing in 2.8-ounce pouches with a SRP range of $1.99 to $2.99, they ship eight 12-ct traysper case.

Sriracha Variety Added To Cosmos LineupA Spicy Sriracha variety is now available in Cosmos Creations’ line of puffed corn products.

Free from gluten, trans fats and genetically engineered ingredients, the company claims, thesnacks contain no hulls or kernels.

Jerid Strasheim, vice-president of sales and marketing, says Cosmos develops flavors bytaking consumer feedback into account. “Spicy flavors like sriracha are a huge trend at themoment, and here at Cosmos Creations, we like to keep up with what’s popular in the snackfood industry.”

Available in six-ounce bags with a SRP of $3.99, they ship in 12-ct cases.

Baked Jerky Is Nitrate-, MSG-FreeKrave Jerky is adding two flavors to its line of nitrate-, MSG, gluten- and corn syrup-free pork,turkey and beef meat snacks.

Garlic Chili Pepper Beef and Lemon Garlic Turkey join Black Cherry Barbecue Pork, BasilCitrus Turkey, Sweet Chipotle Beef, Pineapple Orange Beef, Grilled Sweet Teriyaki Pork andChili Lime Beef varieties.

The meat snacks come in 1.5-ounce packs and 3.5-ounce reclosable pouches with SRPs of$3.49 and $5.99, respectively. Both sizes ship in eight-ct cases.
