Fluorspar Consumption in India

Acid Grade Fluorspar Powder DMT , 105000 Other, 26000

Estimated Acid Grade Fluorspar consumption as of FY 2012-13: 105,000 MT

Imports in corresponding period 2011-12 was 200,000 DMT(Acid grade

Current FY, the Imports has been very low India also imports other Grades of Fluorspar like Dried, Metspar, Low purity etc

Page 12: Navin Fluorine International Ltd (NFIL)

Fluorspar Sources

Till 2010 India was mainly depending on Chinese Acid Grade Spar. The trend is

changing fast with more Countries joining..

South Africa and Kenya more aggressive now

Page 16: Navin Fluorine International Ltd (NFIL)

Is India Dependent on Chinese Fluorspar

India is not dependent on China for Fluorspar

Multiple supply sources have been identified

GMDC owns Fluorspar mines in India. NFIL, GFL and Gujarat Mineral

Development Corporation has formed a Joint Venture Company to set up

R-22 Phase out schedule for Article 5 countries

Source: Montreal Protocol / National Environment Agency (NEA)

R22 is produced in India by

NFIL, GFL ,HFL and SRF Used by domestic AC

Manufacturers and is

exported to many countries

from India It will follow the Phase

down schedules There is a possibility that

HFC 410A or R-32 may

replace R-22 much before

the Phase down schedules Currently, Daikin is selling

R-32 based AC’s in India More environment friendly

refrigerants will replace R-

22 in due course of time Fluorspar will grow in line

with growth in consumption

of Refrigerant gases

R-22 : Current status

Page 18: Navin Fluorine International Ltd (NFIL)

R-22 Scenario in India

R-22 Capacities KTA Domestic demand & Exports

Air Conditioners are the major consumers

of R-22 in India.

Demand of new AC’s and Service

segment will drive the demand of R-22

Domestic consumption of R-22 is about

9KMT(includes HFL & Chemplast)

India exported about 16KMT of R-22 to

Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Nigeria, Vietnam,

Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Philippines, Kuwait,

Thailand, Brazil, Iran, Egypt etc as of FY

2012-13

Total-45KMT

NFIL

SRF GFL

HFL & Chemplast

GFL consumes large quantities of R-22 Captively for making PTFE R22 capacities from CDM Documents

Key takeaways

Sustainable growth in Refrigerants, Specialty Intermediates & Inorganic

Fluorides will drive the Fluorspar consumption

More and more value addition of Fluorspar will be seen in the Speciality

Fluorochemicals as India is strengthening its foot prints in the global market

India is in the process of developing new Fluorspar sources. Another focus

area will be to strengthen the relationships with Fluorspar suppliers globally

and enter into long term Business relationships
