What was Planned (refer to original proposal):
Girls Only After-school Program, 3-6 pm, for Grades 6-9 in rural Victoria County in the Fall/Winter/Spring 2016-2017:
#ForTheGirls Program - Baddeck Academy School
Victoria County girls continue to benefit from the free beneficial program in partnership (Naturally Active for Life Victoria County Est. 2011) with NS Dept of Communities, Cultures & Heritage, NS Thrive, CB-VRSB, Cape Breton Family Resource Centre Society and Baddeck Academy. We look forward to continuing to partner with these in the future benefiting residents in our Victoria County.
What was Achieved (When describing the initiative(s) include duration of program(s) (i.e. 3 months or 12 weeks) and frequency (i.e. twice per week), time frame, amount of moderate to vigorous physical activity:
***Please note – Due to a Provincial Work to Rule in 2016-17 that did not allow us to hold the program at the local schools this year, we partnered with local volunteers, leaders, organizations, service providers and facility operators to offer programs for girls only at various venues throughout our communities.
***Please note – Due to the overwhelming evidence of Children and youth spending 90% of their time indoors, we changed the name of the program GO-Girls Only to GO-Get Outside Program

Subject: Go Girls and Patsy's Yoga Will Not Run during "Work To Rule" (Teachers)
Good morning Patsy & Lindsay – I met with Principal Barb MacDonald this morning on what this all means “Work To Rule” to our programming and community-use at Baddeck Academy School. I then met with my Victoria County CAO Sandy immediately following.
We have decided that the after-school programming will stop during the “Work to Rule”, so this will be the last week until further notice. Please let your participants, parents know.
I appreciate your cooperation and support in these challenging times and look forward to the continuation of your respective programs soon.
Thank you for your leadership, expertise, passion and commitment leading after-school programming to our residents, benefiting them. It’s greatly appreciated.

Partners outreaching by contacting us to partner with us and support the youth in the community.
Challenges: Work to Rule made it challenging for 2016-17 as many teachers involved in the past in assisting with our leaders were not available, but the many community volunteers, leaders, organizations, facility operators and service providers stepped up to partner and make activities happening benefiting our residents. This did not allow us to have program coordinators for the most part as they were not permitted / allowed.
