Cherishing Wisconsin’s Outdoors!Another amazing year of Field Trips awaits! The Natural Resources Foundation is especially excited to offer over 50 field trips to visit State Natural Areas (SNAs). Whether it be rare plants, animals, geology or archaeology — SNAs keep Wisconsin’s “best of the best” protected and secure. Join us in the field with experts to explore these natural gems, and learn more about the many facets of Wisconsin’s lands, waters & wildlife.

We have trips for all ages & interests. So, bring a friend, child or grandchild along and discover something new about Wisconsin together!

Costs & Fees:We try to keep costs low & use your dollars wisely. Trip fees help fund the Field Trip Programs (coordination, staff, printing, postage, and more). Some trips are also fundraisers for important conservation projects.

Children on trips:“Family Friendly” trips are most suitable for children of the age recommendation listed, and thus child’s fees are noted. Children are welcome on all trips for $6 less than the adult fee listed, and must be accompanied by adults.

Colored trip titles:Please double-check that a trip is a good fit for you. We want to make sure you are safe and comfortable. Trip title colors indicate their physical ratings. See page 1 for details.

Discover Wisconsin’s State Natural Areas (SNAs)!Wisconsin’s 673 State Natural Areas (SNAs) provide some of the last refuges for rare plants & animals and protect outstanding examples of Wisconsin’s native plant communities, significant geological formations & archeological sites. The Foundation is focused on ensuring the future of these Wisconsin treasures by investing in SNA management and connecting caring donors with those SNAs in greatest need.

So grab your binoculars & lace up your hiking boots. We have more than 50 trips to discover SNAs and learn more about Wisconsin’s most important, rare & fascinating lands, waters & wildlife! Some trips in this year’s field trip line-up are

fundraisers for SNA management.

1. Paradise Valley Restored Fifty years ago the Bark River was moved

from its original course as part of a farm drainage project. Thanks to the Wetland Reserve Program, the river floodplain has returned, and is now part of the Paradise Valley Wildlife Area. Tour restored wetlands to view thriving wetland birds & waterfowl.

Join us during spring migration as we hit several SNA birding hot-spots of the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit, where more than 230 birds have been identified. Hike the tamarack trail around Mauthe Lake & through Milwaukee River Floodplain Forest SNA. Then venture to Haskell Noyes Memorial Forest SNA, the Jersey Flats & Kettle Moraine Oaks SNA.

When can I register for Field Trips?

Current & renewing members enjoy Early Bird online registration starting at NOON on March 25. Use the passcode found on the back-cover of this booklet.Not already a member? You have two registration & membership options: • Before April 1: Go to WisConservation.org and click on “Join Now” to become a member at the

$25 or greater level. Your payment confirmation email will include your registration passcode to enjoy Early Bird field trip registration opening Tuesday, March 25.

• After April 1: Register for trips using the passcode: Join NRF & a discounted membership rate of $15 will automatically be added to your cart during trip registration.

Tips for choosing trips: • You may attend up to four trips, and bring up to 5 guests. Email us after May 1, and if space

is still available, we may be able to register you for additional trips at that time.• Trip title colors indicate their physical ratings. Please double-check if a trip is a good fit for you.• You may register for only one canoe/kayak trip per person due to high demand.• Please don’t register for trips you have attended in the past.

Tips for online registration:• No phone or email registrations accepted.• Have the names and contact information of all members in your party handy.• Some trips are popular and fill VERY quickly (some within minutes), so have a few back-up choices in

mind.• If a trip is full, consider the waiting list (this will be an option during online registration). We often call or

email wait-listers to go on trips!• Big fan of our field trips? Then please consider an additional donation to the Field Trip Fund while

registering online. Your donation to the Field Trip Fund helps keep our prices low, so all can go!
