REFLECTIONS – The Epiphany of the Lord - The feast of Epiphany marks the end of the Christmas season. It seems fitting that the Gospel recounts the story of the Magi who followed a star to find a new born king. We have also journeyed through Advent to come and rediscover the gift of God’s Son, the Word made flesh. Like the Magi, we cannot stay at the stable in Bethlehem. We must go back to our world and spread the good news of God’s great love for us. How will you spread this good news in the year ahead?

“He delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy.” - Psalm 72:12-13

A Special word of Thanks for your wonderful Christmas Gifts and Cards that have been given to us during this Christmas Season. We are very touched by your kindness and generosity ex-pressed by your love. May God bless you! Thank you. Fr. Mario & Fr. Ed

The Jubilee Year of Mercy began on Decem-ber 8th. Nativity of Our Lady will be celebrating this year of extraordinary Mercy with the Doors of Mer-cy: Exploring God’s Covenant with you. This is a 8-week journey through salvation history, from God’s merciful promises to Adam, Norah, Abraham, Moses, and David, to the prophets’ call to renewal, to the fulfillment of God’s promises in Christ. Fr. Jeffrey Kirby will guide us through God’s covenant with His people, by explaining the events of the Bi-ble and showing how God pours out His mercy after they stray from Him again and again. Each weekly session is capped by insights from various Catholic authors, speakers, and clergy, which demonstrate the power of Divine Mercy in the world today, inspiring us to seek God’s mercy and to foster a closer rela-tionship with Christ. Beginning the first week of February we will meet for an hour and a half session on Tuesday AM and a Thursday evening. Or, you can enjoy the series at home and access the speakers via the web. How convenient is that! There will be another sign-up weekend at the beginning of January or Call Brenda Romero, 365-3759, anytime.

Retrouvaille has a weekend coming up in soon, January 8,9, and 10th in Pineville, Louisiana. Retrouvaille is a ministry for couples in troubled marriages. It is for mar-ried couples who are anxious about their marriage, alone or distant from their partner, disillusioned or bored in their marriage, or who are experiencing coldness or con-flict. Retrouvaille is a catholic ministry that is support-ed by Bishop Jarrell and the Family Life Office of the Diocese of Lafayette. Retrouvaille encourages individual and spiritual growth and the ultimate goal is to reinstall in hurting couples the joy and satisfaction of sacramental marriage.
