Location

• Black nation the largest and most dominant Indian tribe in Montana • 1700’s ~ living in valley of the Northern Saskatchewan River near

the Eagle Hills in Canada and hunting buffalo on foot with bows and arrows.

• The 3,000-square-mile Blackfeet Reservation (1,525,712 acres of trust land) is located in northwestern Montana and is bounded by Alberta, Canada and part of Waterton Lakes National Park on the north and Glacier National Park on the west

• Meriwether Lewis (of Lewis and Clark) encounters Blackfeet (Piegan) at the junction of Two Medicine River and Badger Creek.  Lewis kills one Piegan who was trying to steal a gun.
